Talked to the dealer again today. They said they needed to order a new PCM. Hahah, I told them I just had one put in from the other automotive place. It was there for three weeks and swore up and down it was the PCM. Then I pick it up and nothing had changed.

So the dealer ordered a new PCM since it is under the emissions warrenty. I am going to call the other place to get my money back. They screwed me good...$2400 good! If they refuse, I will talk with the BBB.

They will let me know what happens with the car tomorrow. Stay tuned.

The dealer put the new PCM in and what do ya know, nothing happened!!! The car is still in limp mode and nothing has changed. They are going to check for a short in the wiring.

With all of this said, would you guys reccomend me talking to Chrysler? I have been without a car for a long time now and no one can figure this one out.

Let me know and thanks so much for the feedback!

I don't know if they have or not. The dealer called again to let me know they are going to give me a truck to drive till this is taken care of. At least they are trying to make it better from what happened a month and a half ago!

Still call Chrysler?

Have you insisted that the Chrysler Technical Rep. be contacted? I am sure that you are not the first person to have this trouble, so the Chrysler Rep. should have access to all reports worldwide on his computer.
My wife worked in the service department of a Chrysler Dealership and she said that the dealership was always reluctant to ask for the Reps help. She did not know if it was because of pride, that guys do not like to ask for directions, that they were invoiced for his help or he could tell the dealership to do it under warranty. They of course would prefer you to pay the higher rates not the warranty rates they are paid.
All problems like this are recorded on the computer, the solution(s) to the problem are on record. This is what the Rep. does, he also has the final decision on who pays what. Insist on speaking to him, and tell him your side of the story, get him on your side now or you could pay the whole cost. This man will have access to more info about Xfires than any mechanic whose taken a few courses, if indeed there is a mechanic who has taken a course.

Thanks for the suggestion. Like I said, I have a rental right now from the dealer and it's cool

I called Chrysler yesterday and today. They gave me information about how to get my money back. I will make sure to explain everything in complete detail so they understand. Hopefully this will be something that will start a positive trend.

They said they would talk with their head Tech's about the issue. Till then, I will wait.

Hey everyone! The car is back in my hands! It turned out the PCM they installed WAS bad. They put a new one in and all of the dash lights turned off!!

I am in the process of getting my money back for the PCM that I bought at the other automotive place.

After all of this, I think it is time to get a different car. I have roughly 69k on my baby and am getting ready to start graduate school. I need something reliable for the next two years. I will let you know what I decide to do. Kinda sucks because besides this, NOTHING has ever gone wrong with this car.

CONGRATULATIONS!! LOL

You should be a social worker or some type of job that requires a great deal of patience.
You should call them back to say it's not working just to "F" with them..

Are we to take it that two PCM's were bad? I find this hard to believe, I suspect the first dealeshipr never changed it, but had you pay for it. I am a sceptic at heart when it comes to these people, a new form of highway robbery, licensed as well.

Always ask to see the item that they took out of your car, keep it if you want to, but at least look at it. If they cannot find it, then wonder what really happened.

Good luck in the studies.

I do not believe the first PCM that Lamb's Automotive put in was bad. They just didn't flash it correctly. That is when the dealer stepped in and ordered a new one, which was bad. The 2nd one seems to be working correctly. I hope you guys never have to deal with something like this. I am not sure if I want to keep it or sell it now.

By the way. Here is the letter that I am sending Chrysler to get my money back.

Two months ago, my 2004 Chysler Crossifire went into “limp” mode. This is when the car stays in 2nd gear and will not get out due to a electrical issue. The ESP/BAS light, ABS light, and stering wheel light were all on. I have never had anything happen to the vehicle, so I decided to take it to Maxwell Dodge here in Austin, Tx. They informed me that the ABS control module, spoiler motor, and some sort of air sensor were all bad. I thought it was very odd that all of these things could go bad all at one time so I asked Tim to speak with the technician to see if it was just one issue. Tim was quick to say he didn’t know what the main issue was and that I needed to order all of these parts (which was going to be well over $2500). After a few days, Tim called back to say that it was probably just the ABS control module that was bad and that it should take care of the problem. I then went to the dealership to have them start working on the car. I asked Tim if I could see the codes the car was producing and also speak with the technician. He wouldn’t let me see the codes and was not cooperative when asked about speaking with the technician. I asked Tim if they would guarantee the ABS control module they put in would work because of the $1200 I was paying. He would not guarantee anything and was still being very pushy to buy the part and get going. I decided, after the horrible service, that I would take my business elsewhere. Time looked at me as if I was stupid and then replied, “Oh, well, it shouldn’t be more than a couple hundred dollars for the diagnostics.” I had called a few days before that and all they were going to charge was one diagnostics fee and that was it. I argued with him that I was only supposed to be charged one fee. He came back with the bill (being only one diagnostics charge) and I took my car to Lambs Automotive here in Austin, TX. Lambs treated me with respect and told me they would try to get it fixed. They did the diagnostics and came to the conclusion that the Power train control module was bad and that it would be around $2400 to replace it. I decided to have them order the part and they replaced it. I didn’t find out until after it was fixed that the Powertrain Control Module was covered under the 8 years/80k miles emissions warrenty. I called Maxwell Dodge back and talked with Darrin Cheatham, the director of the service department. He was shocked that this had happened to my car and wanted to do anything to help me get a refund. This is why I am writing Chrysler. All the of the contact information for both Maxwell Dodge and Lamb Tire and Automotive will be at the bottom of this letter. I have also enclosed the original receipt from Lamb’s and my credit card purchase statemet.

Sincerely,
Nathan Steenport

Hope you get some of your money back.
All cars can break and leave you stranded. I would rather drive something I like and cross my fingers.
I say keep it!
And yes a Honda can leave you stranded too.
