Car Value - Jesus How low can it Go
I origanolly bought my car for 32k and it is now worth like 11 or something. I still owe almost 20 on it. When do you think the bottom will stop falling out. There were lseriously like 2 other crossfires in my whole metro area, but now there are quite a few more. I could go MONTHS without seeing another, now its only weeks, and the shittiest thing is the people only probably paid like 9-11 grand for theres.
Lol, I'm one of those "people" who bought an 04 with 30K miles for 12 grand...lol, Loving it. Glad I waited for people like you (but actually sold it) to lower the value on it abit so I can have an equally good car for 1/3 of the price.
Stupid thing is why sell it for such a low price? I'd rather burn it then sell it to someone and watch them smile. Thing is if people hold on to them and dont sell for a stupid price there will be a shortage of supply for second hand Xfires, and if there is demand they will have to pay a price higher then 11 or 12k! simple economics
Thanks. Who would have guessed it would have dropped this much. I thought I got a good deal when I got it. This car has to have the world record for quickest depreciation.

I hope you purchased "GAP" insurance on your Crossfire. Hopefully you won't have to use it, but you never know.
I bought new one time in my life, from now on it is 1 or 2 year old cars. I bought my 'low mileage' 04 for less than 1/2 sticker. Same car as an 07 really.

The only reason to be concerned with resale value is if you want to sell it -- I bought mine to drive and have fun with, not worry about when I was going to get rid of it and how much I was going to lose. I figure all the enjoyment I'm getting while driving it is worth every penny I paid for it!
If I take care of it long enough, some day people will come to their senses and it will become a collector's item...but until then, my permagrin is all the compensation I need!

There aren't many cars that Appreciate in value over time. Most, if not all, are not driven much. My crossfire doesn't lose it's value when I drive it.
I am not worried about depreciation having bought mine "new" for half the sticker price. Despite this the car is now, 11 months later, worth much less than that. Could buy it on E-Bay today for less than $13,000.
Saw an '04 go with 50M miles for $8,300 on EBAy last nite. Given the current economy, we will likely see more of that.
So, this morning I got into my worthless POS Crossfire and drove to work.......GRINNING THE WHOLE TIME!
And when I can, I'm buying another one for when the wheels fall off this one. Even though they don't have a decent cup holder.
As far as I'm concerned, the price can keep on dropping. Keep in mind, no matter how cheap they are, this car will always be cool to drive.

Look at it this way. There are people in CA that bought homes (and have loans) for $500,000 that are now worth $300,000. Feel better now?

Think of them as a lead in cheap car like a Ford focus that is built and marketed in the hopes that the owners will up grade to a bigger Ford later.

I used to work with a guy who said he just wouldn't spend serious money on a car .. after all, he said, all a ;car does is get you from here to there .... the less you spend on one, the more you have for other things, including savings ... which, he said, was the most important thing one could have ...
My Crossfire is the most expensive car I've ever owned ... and I suppose I could easily allow myself to feel badly about the depreciation that it has had in the three years I've had it, even though I bought it a year old for about 60% of new cost.
But, I knew going in that it would depreciate further and that eventually, the value will be VERY low ... I guess it's fair to say that what I'm spending the money on is the terrific experience of driving this car ...
I first saw a Crossfire at a show a couple of months before they first went on sale for the first time and instantly fell in love with it ... it was everything I'd ever wanted from a car but had never had ...
I could've saved the money and continued to schlepp around in a newer version of something like the Ford Probe that I'd been driving or done as a friend did and buy a Pontiac Solstice but those cars cost as much as the Crossfire I DID get and weren't half the car .... more importantly, they wouldn't have offered a small fraction of the driving satisfaction I get with my Crossfire ...
And that's the point, IMO ... satisfaction ... there's nothing quite like the satisfaction one gets from a quality tool for whatever task is at hand ... I won't bemoan the money I spent on this car because the return I'm getting on my investment is as high or higher than it's ever been on any car I've owned at any price ...

Very well said,
The only reason this beautiful machine does not hold it's value is, it is the best kept secret in the industry. Once someone drives one, they have to have it.

I bought mine in September 2007 for $25K. It had only 18 miles on it and the 8yr/80k mile warranty. Sure, I could get one like mine for $15k with 10k miles on it, but I don't care. Since buying it, I have had all kinds of fun in it.
To me, getting the car when I needed it, and having it for the last year is worth more than the $10k I would have saved.
