i ran out of gas!
Re: i ran out of gas!
It's a darn good thing some of you aren't pilots!
I never run the fuel below 1/4 tank for several reasons, most have already been stated, but for review:
Keeps from sucking up contaminants in the fuel system (clogged fuel filter); in the unlikely event a gas station is not nearby you have the gas required to 'make it' to a station within range, and last leaving a stranded car on the side of a road is a disaster in the making.(theft, towed, etc)
Conversely, since I don't use the SRT except when I want to show it off, I only fuel it to1/2 tank. No sense lugging around the extra weight (7.5# per gallon) and allowing the gas to get 'old' with the chemical breakdown after time.
Those warning/caution lights are there for a reason.

Diesel weighs close to 7.5 lbs/US gal, gasoline weighs around 6 lbs/US gal.
Depends if it is leaded or unleaded, I jest.
I do not see much more chance of picking up crappola in the tank when near empty rather than when it is full. There is a sieve in the tank anyway for the big stuff and the Crossfire filter is quite large anyway.
