Default Loud buzzing. No start.

The Roadsters in storage for about 2 months now. Went to start it and nothing. No lights or anything. I put jumper cables on it and there's a loud buzzing coming from behind the battery. The car starts and the buzzing stops. I let it run for 1/2 hour and turned it off and tried to start it and there was absolutely nothing. Completely dead.

Did the battery totally fry out or something?

First I would take the battery out, use a reliable charger and see if the battery will take a charge. Once charged, take it to Autozone/ Pepboys, somewhere they can check it out with a load test. If battery passes the test, then you need to check alternator output/etc. This is just a start.

Everything was perfectly fine when I put it away. It's an 05 so the battery is 4 years old. It is stored outside and we've had a number of -25 F nights and a bunch of days where it never got above 0.

My guess is that battery is completely hosed.

Are the Die Hards any good these days?

Can't help you, battery-wise, Beep but please let us know how you get this squared away.

I was never a fan of the Diehard but many people have good luck with them. My personal preference is the Interstate.

Good luck,

James

PS - Be sure your terminal connections are good. Remove them and wire brush them. Corrosion doesn't always have to be present to cause a bad connection.

I also think your battery has failed you. My Jeep Grand Cherokee acted similarly 2 months ago and it was the 4 year old Die Hard that had failed. That was the second Die Hard that failed in it in 5 years! I replaced it with a premium Interstate battery as the Jeep is my mainstay in the winter and must be dependable. Have your present battery load tested and replace it if it fails. Remember that unused lead acid batteries sulphate and fail more often than one in-use--or that has been my experience.

HEY HO! I might be moving to FLORIDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This winter has been awefull. -30f actual temps and days in a row not reaching 0!

No wonder the batteries dead. Everything is frozen solid here and the roads are crumbling to pieces.

At any rate, does anyone know a good place to buy an Interstate battery? I'ld like to find one on sale.

Miami, here I come!

I got one at Sam's Club for $87. Its slightly shorter but if turn the spacer around from top to bottom, it will compensate for the new battery being shorter and everything will be secure.

I do not have Sam's but I have Costco so I'll see what they have. They put a really great set of tires on the Vette for super cheap.

There's a bunch of dealers in your area. Go here:

And find one!

After a quick search, I found that Interstate MTP-91 is the right fit.

You will if you install the new battery backwards.

Now there's a vote of confidence!

OK, fine! I'll have the thing towed and someone else can install it. It's way to flipping cold and I don't have tools worth krap anyways.

I'll wait until march because the cars in a snowbank and if I put a new battery in there now, it will just freeze and die like the last one.

Minnesota winter really blows.
