Default Multi-function Tool

When this car was made they put this tool in various places around the car, making it something like an Easter egg hunt. I did not find one and got one from the dealer.
For the first time ever I went to put something in the pocket on the bulkhead behind the driver and between the seats, under the umbrella clips, VOILĄ I found the multifunction tool. It has been there untouched since Nov.2003. Have a look if yours is missing it may be there as well.
I now have two and they are slightly different to one another, on one the part with the wrench looking opening is longer than the other. I think that another version has a bend in it, but I could be wrong. (for the first time ever)

Thanks for the heads up... I never heard of that before. But I have a coupe and I don't think there is a net behind the seat.

It is not a net, it will be a solid black 'Corinthian Leather' pocket and is hard to see. I knew it was there but never used it before as I did not want to stretch it.

Unless you have a base coupe/roadster. There are no pockets behind the seats in the base models... FYI

Wont swear to it but I think one of those tools is for the coupe and the other is for a convertible. The longer one would be to grab the unlock mechanism on the roof lock. I might be full of poop though.

What do you mean? I am confused.
I have a 2004 Coupe and it has three pockets, one net pocket behind each seat and a solid 'Corinthian Leather' one in the middle. I have maps in them.

The longer one came with my coupe and it is still in the plastic. The other one came from the dealer and he may have taken it out of a convertible as he had one beside my one.

Sorry I think I was misunderstood...there are pockets in all of the limited coupe/roadster versions, but the base models did not come with them.

sorry if i was misunderstood. your 2004 should definately have them as there were no base model coupes or roadsters in 2004

You stated 'Unless you have a base coupe/roadster. There are no pockets behind the seats in the base models... FYI' the word unless applied to base and roadster, that was your confusing and erroneous statement.

Thats the child seat latch system strap guide, there is more, the actual anchors are on the bottom rear of the passenger seat.

The tool is for stuck auto transmissions, unlatching 'vert roofs and removing the lower rad grill to get at the front towing hook. I call it the Crossfire toolkit. It is also OK to crack walnuts with. It is mentioned on pages 125/6 and 173 of the 2004 Owners Manual.

Found mine a couple of weeks ago in the bottom of the glove compartment after checking the cabin filter.

Okay, looked in the large pocket and it's not there so I don't have one. I'm the second owner. I took a look at the front lower left side grill and it was unattached so I popped it back into place. So, can I naturally assume that my 3K (low mileage) XF had been towed??
