Default Tpms Vs Sealant ?

OK, I did a stupid thing & blew the sealant into the tire before I looked on the inside & saw the tire was toast. So, after UPS delivers the new tire from Tire Rack....

1. Will I have to take the wheel/tire to a Chrysler dealership to have a new TPMS device installed into the wheel?

2. Will the car I'm going to put the wheel back onto have to be there when the dealership does this....so that the new TPMS device can be programmed to the car at the same time?

3. I suppose I could put one of Wilma's wheel/tire back on Fred & drive Fred + the bad wheel/tire + the new tire to the dealership...

Hummm....I wonder how much run-flats would cost????

The TPMS is part of the valve stem so it should not need to be replaced. I have heard a couple stories where the spray got all backed up inside and killed it but pretty sure that is rare. If it doesn't need replacing the car doesn't need to be with it when they do the work (any tire place should be able to do it for you, no need to take it to the dealer unless you had some kind of warranty on the tires from them, or if you really like em I suppose) Even if they do have to replace it for some reason you should be able to take it home put it on and drive back up for the programming (could be wrong but don't think it has to be out of the wheel for program)

BTW, Same thing happened to me, only realized the inner wall was blown out when the white goo started blowing all over the side of the road lol. Worst part of the whole thing was having to buy 2 new PS2s for the back

This is all accurate.

And run-flats are not recemmended for this car. I makes the handling and especially the ride much worse.

I used the sealant once...and only once because it's $140 to replace it and I'm not spending that kind of dough. Anyhow, didn't affect the tpms at all and when the new tire is reinflated it clears out the valve but you will find that you may have to clean off the inside of the rim because not all of that stuff dries although I only had it in there for 3 hours because I was able to get a tire right away.

Had the new tire mounted (yes, they were not thrilled with the sealant in the shreded tire), took it home & put it on Fred....drove around the block...then retightened the lug nuts again....TPMS light was on.....left about 2 hours later to come to work....& .....yeah!!! When I started the car the light was out....reset itself I guess!!!!
Apparently the sealant did not plug up the sensor.
