This epic thread is starting to sound like Obamacare...

I need a (insert your surgery need here), but the part required is on national back order. The heath care manufacturer can't produce them because the government doesn't pay enough for them.

I guess we better be careful or FP will move this thread to the political forum.

ps, good luck with getting the part Franc. You have my support and I'll continue to follow the thread.

I can get the government to pay for my car parts?!?! Sweet! I would like the following items under my holiday tree ... CAI, magna-flow exhaust, new dust free brake pads, an iPod/iPhone dock ... I can keep going.

I can feel your pain. Today I had to pay for my first oil change ever. Lifetime oil changes are only good for 50K miles as it turns out. Guess I'm dead now. Ordered floor mats and, you guessed it, they are on back order. Guess it could be worse. At least I'm rolling down the hiway.

Maybe it would be easier to just get Crumpy a new SRT. I know that money is no object for the independent businessman.

Yoy may be right All that money I made exploiting the prolitariate.

If I don't spend it on something for the company, the government will just take it. We need a whole fleet of Crossfires. At least one of every color.

Let me run that past the accountant.

Well we are on week 7 of the "NO START" issue. Waiting for the Powertrain Control Module. My dealer told me last week it was on a national back order until......February of 2010!

I suggested he just go down the street to a MB dealer and buy one.

That didn't sit well.

We spoke today, it looks like somebody got the message because they will have it in next Monday.
Hope it sovles the issues with Crumpy's SRT.

As to Chrysler/Fiat, untill they have a positive cash flow, exotic parts like the PCM are going to be a real problem. Stay steeled guys. It's going to be a while before this gets better.

It is however hard to be patient when your baby is laid up for seven weeks because MB can't build decent electronics.

At least they finally gave you a date. When I was there they just shrugged their shoulders and looked like guilty little school boys. I also hope they moved it to the back rather than sitting out front.

Stopped by the dealer today. Parts are in St louis and will be at the dealer Tuesday.

ECU and my fog light doors.

Rcompart, I should have them Wednesday when Crumpy's car is supposed to be done. Thanks so much for the loan of yours which has kept mine going in the rain.

For you my friend, anytime. I'm actually thinking about getting spares just in case this ever happens again to someone else.

You will have them as I ordered a full set for you besides replacing the one you loaned me.

I get blamed for everything.

Well, since it is my fault. I'll put your name on one.

As a side note Frank, your avatar pretty much sums up me and my crossfire. Happy little kid in a sporty little car... Well at least the sporty car is little.

Blamed?!
Consider it a gentle reminder instead.
That would be the starboard side - assuming I'm standing at the back of the car facing towards the bow & not at the front of the car facing towards the stern !
Now all I need is a rudder & a main mast & I'll be all set!

Port and starboard are always in reference to standing on the bridge looking forward.....

Yes, I was in the Navy....

Question Re: Crumpy's SRT won't start

Franc - if you still have confidence in the St. Louis dealership can you provide the name? I'm hoping I don't have to utilize a dealer for anything other than simple/minor problems if any occur (call me a hopeless optimist) and I'd like to know which one will have a good record. I know this is like gazing into a crystal ball and forecasting the future but................

And I hope things have worked out well with your situation. That's a long time to have a car in the shop.
