Default 4200 rpm launch / spoiler deployment

According to the owner's manual ....for safety purposes... if the ESP detects a large difference between the front & rear wheel speeds....the spoiler will automatically deploy. Anyone that has actually performed a 4200 rpm drop clutch launch ever seen this happen? Maybe that's too optimistic, anyone seen this on slippery surfaces? Donuts on ice?

That has never happened with me. Even launching at 4,200 the tires don't spin much since they are very wide. I think if you were drifting it may. What has happened with me though is from about 60 with the spoiler down stepping on the brake very hard and it came up

nope, unless my tires spin at 62 mph, nothing happens with my spoiler.

All right guys, show me a video of you launching at 4200rpm with no spinning. If your dropping your clutch at 4200rpm on factory tires, or DR's, I'm betting that they are spinning like crazy. Lets see a video.......

I am not saying they dont spin just not much. They did more but I just got new tires and it is hard to make them spin for a long period of time

ask and ye shall recieve!

Here is a video of a 4200 drop-clutch launch on a prepared surface with some really worn down F1-AS tires. YouTube - Chrysler Crossfire Limited Roadster Vs. modified Z06 Corvett

Here is a video of the stock conti's late at night on a smooth sealcoated parking lot at something less than 4200 (around 3600), again drop-clutch. YouTube - Crossfireforum.org member "striping" a lot!

It really comes down to surface prep and tires. As you can see.... a 4200 drop-clutch start is entirely possible with minimal wheelspin on a prepared surface.

It's a little blurry...but that's definately not an SRT6....any idea who that is? What kinda of mods (if any)?
The Z06 definately (probably) won....but...I think the 6 spd did us proud!!

Think about that...that's a 500+ HP Z06!

I need to know if he was also doing "No-Lift" shifts.

I know exactly who it is....

It's definitely not a SRT, it's a limited. The only mods on that run were a NeedsWings CAI, and a severely worn set of tires.....damn near slicks, and a magnaflow cat-back.

Just your basic 4000rpm drop clutch launch, and I did not lift through the shifts. I've found this car to be pretty darn good at no-lift shifts......almost like it was meant for it.

For the record......that Vette was nowhere near stock, and on DR's. He also got out of it at the 2/3 mark and rolled across the line about 2 lengths behind me. If he's have stayed in it he probably had a 10 second run or better.

Considering his engine was twice the displacement of ours.....I think you won a moral victory!! How many car lengths separated you at the end?

He coasted from the 2/3rd's mark..........I stayed in it and got to the line by about 2 lengths.

It was just a test-n-tune day......he wasn't really racing me.

I saw in the staging lanes that we'd line up, I was actually interested in seeing how we'd fare against a Z06.......then he fired it up and the only thought going through my mind was "Oh S**T"! The camera angle made it look closer than it really was. In the video you can hear that beast when I am rolling up to the line....it's one bad a$$ Corvette for sure.

Yeah, I was stuck in snow and tried rocking the car back and forth and my spoiler went up by itself, freaked me out for a second because I thought I ****** something up.
