Drive it like you stole it!
Okay, people, it's time to put down your martini glasses and break out the beer.
I want to hear of your performance exploits, stoplight drags, kills, deaths (that means lost..), trips to the drag strip, ect.
Smokey burnout pics or a pic of you in a full counterlock slide would be most welcome!
I'll post some pics when I get 'em, but I want to hear the stories!

I've autocrossed mine once. I'm going to run it again on Feb. 8th. I'll get some pic.s this time. Last time it was a spur of the moment thing and I didn't bring a camera. This time I will!!! It ran really well, once I figured out that the Traction/Stability control wasn't allowing me to get everything out of it. After turning it off I dropped almost 2 seconds from my time. I don't care what some others may say. This thing handles GREAT!!!
Honda S2000s with their skinny tires where losing it whenever they tried to really drive them into the corners hard. The Crossfire was awesome.... Got just loose enough to be quick around the cones.

I was driving on my favorite twisty mountain road when I came up behind this old fuddy dud doing about 25-35 (speed limit 55, I was doing 65-80).
Being a narrow 2-lane road with nothing but blind turns, I was stuck behind this guy for 10 miles! I was absolutely infuriated. The anger was building. This guy passed up every opportunity to get off the road to let me by. Finally we came to the one stretch of road long enough to make a pass. I could feel all of the anger and tension spewing out my tailpipe like an afterburner as I blasted to 90mph. Never saw him again....
I noticed that my spoiler went up just as I was passing him, and I got a great idea. Next time I'll have a sign that says EAT ME witten on the underside of the spoiler!

So... who was wrong there? The old fudy dud for going too slow or you for exceeding the speed limit? I'd opt for the guy going slow no matter how frustrating it is than someone driving faster than conditions warrant.
Also, please don't play "boy racer" and put punk EAT ME stickers on a Xfire. I'd like to think the folks that can afford to own and drive a XFire are a tad smarter than alot of the trash out there.
Before you slam me for MY opinion, consider this... four days a week I drive an 18 wheeler 350 miles between Phoenix and Globe, Arizona hauling copper making two round trips on US60. Half of that is two lane mountain roads. I wish I had $1.00 for every "idiot" who was in too big of a hurry and passed me illegally putting myself and others in harms way. I've seen too many "needless" accidents to see any "humor" or "cool" in your story.
Do us all a favor... find a place to play were you won't be a hazard to anyone but yourself!!!
Case closed... have a great day!!!
I was merely trying to convey the emotion of the situation and provide an entertaining story. I always take extra precaution when driving on that road (I've got my wife to think of). You gotta admit, though, that the underside of spoiler would be a great place to convey a special message to those behind you!

PS: Nope, it wouldn't be a good place for a sticker... we sit too low and the spoiler doesn't raise high enough unless you're following behind in a go-kart....
OK- my turn.
Just after we got our car, my wife and I were going to see some friends about 80 miles away. We were on the PA Turnpike going around Pittsburgh doing about 70 when my wife looked at me and said "lets see what this thing can do". At 130 she said "I like it!, but it is time to slow down". As we came back to 70 and went around a bend, sure enough, there was a PA State Patrol Cruiser sitting off the side of the road. We waived as we went by, and he waived back.
She is spooky that way sometimes.......

Speed is my drug.

I had to drive to Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show last week to deliver a poster for our trade show booth. Left at 4:30am and got to the desert stretch at dawn...no sun yet, but enough light to see any patrol cars for a few miles straight ahead. No cars, trucks were all behind me, and no patrol cars, so I took it up to 140 and then backed off. I decided I'd better not push it further...wasn't worried about me or the car, just the fact that I'd get fired if I didn't deliver the damn poster.
For the most part, averaged about 110 playing cat and mouse with a Lexus sedan...was a ton of fun. The 140 was on a straightaway, but not a shake to be felt at all...really impressive compared to my old Miata that felt like it was gonna shake apart at 115. Wish there was a closed road, tho...hate the idea they might impound the car over 100mph. :x

It is sooo hard for me to observe the speed limit with my Crossfire. I want to let it out all the time, however I already have a ticket I'm working off and can't afford another. I generally take the 5 mph over they "allow" here in Florida, but that's it. I understand AZ Outlaw's speeding concerns, my son-in-law is a long distance trucker and a safe one, the stories he can tell. I think AZ would agree though that 130 in a Crossfire is far different from 130 in a roll over prone, tire shredding, environmental nighmare SUV. Opps - sorry tipped my hand.

I would recommend anyone who has a speeding problem to get a Valentine 1. I bought one about a week ago, and although it hasn't saved me yet (I hadn't been speeding) it is amazing how far away it can detect radar. I was in a 45 mph zone, doing the speed limit, and it started going off, and about 3/4 to 1 mile away there was a cop coming the opposite direction with his radar on. I was going around a curve, which had a lot of trees between me and where the cop would have been when it started going off. I was stunned. I had a K40 a few years back that I sold cause it didn't do much to help me. The Valentine 1 though, is absolutely amazing.
My best story was driving north on I95 going home from Florida, I cruised along at about 100-110 with a Mercedes S55 for almost 200 miles. I didn't have a radar detector at the time, but I could see he had one. A RX-8 and a ML500 joined in for a while, but I think they got nervous and dropped back. Awesome ride.

About the same story here, except I was going south on I95. Got hooked up with a Porsche and a Camero while in my BMW 325is. I had a cheap RD and I could see they had RD's also. We would each take turns in the lead at over 100. Lost them when they turned on the the Florida turnpike. The Camero rated about a 7 but the lady driving it was a definate 10.

I have it mounted right to the right of the rear-view mirror, with the suction cup bracket it comes with. I am going to hardwire to the cars power when it gets a little warmer out, and I have the external display for it, which I have to figure out some place to mount. This way no one behind me will see that I have a radar detector.
So far I have been lucky. I smoked a mustang red light to red in town on a sunday afternoon. I got a kid in a camero at 135 in a rat race. Pulled away from two vettes on I65. This car is pure fun. My old lady keeps telling me I'm going to get put in jail, I say just look at the car of course I'm going to get put in jail that's a given.   Please don't get on my ***, it won't do any good anyway :!:
P.S. Can any chrysler or mb employee give me their number to save me some money on a dodge truck? I'm noy really sure what i'm asking for but my salesman told me if I knew somebody that worked for DC they could give it to me.

I'll never get on your butt Neil or anyone elses, I was guilty of the same behavior in my "younger days", but all this talk about Crossfires smoking Vettes is just plain dreaming. Those Vette drivers just didn't want to be bothered. Sad but very true.
