Default Alarming Situation

And another thing...I've noticed since the first day I had my Crossfire that if I open the door with the key (as opposed to the remote) I set of the alarm. It continues to sound until I start the car. It was mostly just an annoyance until yesterday when I went to start the car after being stored a couple months and the battery was too weak to crank it over. Not too weak, however, to set off the alarm (my remote was dead).

So there I was unable to start the car or turn off the alarm until the battery finally went all the way down...

there must be something this newbie doesn't know??

Well, I was able to boost the Xfire and get her started so no problem there, but am wondering why the alarm always goes off when I am opening the door with the key? Is there some setting I should be changing?

I think the battery might just be to weak, dead cell etc. Strange things happen with weak batteries.

Ok, so it DOES look like newbie needs a new battery! (had it boosted a couple of weeks back, left it running a good half hour, put it away until last weekend - won't start...)

Anything special I need to know about batteries for our babies before I buy my first one?

I went with the Interstate MTP-91. I paid just over $100 with a coupon at a local Firestone store. Linky
