Default Transmission questions

  1. Do the SRT and automatic NA have the same transmission?
  2. The service manual says we have the "NAG1" (New Automatic Gearbox, version 1) transmission. Was there ever a "NAG2?"

Default Re: Transmission questions

To the best of my knowledge:

No, and yes.

The NA should be W 5 A 330 (330 NM torque input) Output spider will have three arms. Uses six hole flex disk.

SRT should be W 5 A 580 (580 NM torque input) Output spider will have four arms. Uses eight hole flex disk.

NAG 1 is the 722.6 five speed.
NAG 2 is the 722.9 seven speed.

Thanks for the quick reply. I didn't see where they called out the difference between the NA and SRT transmissions in the SRT service manual. Maybe I just missed it.

Do you know if MB is still making the NAG1 transmission or is it obsolete?

Sorry for the late reply. 722.6/NAG1 still in production.

And the V6 and V8 versions use different gear ratios.
