Ordered my filters today. The best price I could find was $40.83 from ajusa.com with free shipping and no tax. The price listed for the web site on this thread was not the same today.... They must have known it was me and jacked up the price!!

I will let you know what it does for mileage. I am getting 24.15 right now with the winter tires and extra weight in the trunk. That is about 50-50 highway and city.

When you order these filters, do they come as a 2 pack or do you need to buy 2 separate ones? Not sure how this all works. I'm used to just one big ol' filter.

I've been searching the UK websites for it and have come up with part no. 33-2256 which says its for the SLK320. Is this the right one?

I searched for this on the link given before, 4filters.com which is an American site in that the above part no. is for the SLK32 whick I know is the AMG version.

So does this matter?

Just ordered my 2 K&N's this morning from AutoZone $46.28 each. They will arrive tomorrow by noon.. K&N Part #33-2185....Same filters as the 2003 320SLK MB 3.2L...Every one at the parts store had to come out and check out the Xfire..None have seen one up close yet....
I appreciate everyone's advise and input on this topic..I can't wait to drop them in tomorrow..I attempted to remove the engine cover last night but guess I didn't pull hard enough...Anyone sure there aren't any screws / nuts holding it down...Man, I'd die if I broke it !!!
Hope to drive to the big Mustang show in town this weekend....For some odd reason, the Mustang owners around here can't stand me to pass them on the road...When a co-worker who drives a mustang asked me why I bought a Crossfire, I told him cause EVERYONE has a Mustang..
Thanks again everyone..Have a great weekend..

Hey thats not a stupid question....I can't give you the technical reason but the Xfire has a dual air intake system, thus 1 filter per intake...Probably allows more airflow to produce more horsepower....Questions like yours are why I enjoy this forum...I learned to never be afraid to ask..There are so many members on here who are a wealth of infomation...Hope to be one of those soon..

Tony..
Thank you.....
They should arrive next week.
My husband put a K&N on our Testerossa..
We love it. and yes...it did give it a little more horse!
I have to say though...whenever we have a caravan of ferrari's ...it is the X-fire they inquire about.
It's quite a seen whenever I take it out.
Only 1700 miles thus far and no major problems!

Just take it off... you'll gain 5hp without it.

Pull up from the back side of the cover first. No screws. Just pull

How does removing the cover give the car 5hp? ... if it lost that much wouldnt DC not put that on there?

Also does anyone know how many HP the filters do add? Is it even really notable or just slightly noticeable (sp?)?

thanks r.r but it seems very expensive. They have got some good stuff on there like new A/C ***** and a carbon fibre dash kit.

I've emailed K&N in the UK to see what they come up with.
