I'm going to open a can of worms here, I'm sure ... but this topic has been discussed pro and con on so many threads, it's like argueing "religion" or "politics" .... there really is no winner! Some always say "SAVE THE $$$", while others will say "LUCKY ME, HAD A MAJOR PROBLEM... YADA YADA!
If you can easily afford to take the family out for Pizza, Cheeseburgers, etc, and/or a movie with popcorn and drinks, owning an extended waranty from Chrysler is a bargain, no matter what anyone says. Remember .. I said "easily afford", because the cost of them per month, be it $35 or $50, really gives a sense of peace of mind when putting the head down at night, when you have an exotic car that cost anywhere from $35K to $50K to buy when new. Especially when repairs on systems in our cars are rediculously high, and not getting cheaper. So you have to decide for yourself, want the peace of mind of not? Just saying ..... my $.02

Or....."What's the best beer to drink?"

Yes, very much a personal preference. I, for one, like the peace of mind it affords and for a buck a day, I still think it's a good deal. Much to discuss before I plunk down my dollars on anything.

Thanx all.

I bought my 04 in 08 and dumb me, I bought the dealers bs Gold whatever warrenty. well that ran out and I picked up a max care warrenty. Good thing cause the sticky inigition key problem hit me a few months later. That was an 800 dollar repair if I remember right, either way, I'd be quite nervous to own a car like this without any warrenty cause in a blink of an eye you can have a 1000 dollar repair.

Sounds good Joe. If I was closer to OK City I would take you up on that. We could talk about the big jobs we were on. LOL.

I am going to be transferring my drivetrain warranty tomorrow and I am going to talk to the dealer in person. This MaxCare plan makes no mention of AirBag electronics and I still have no idea how many different MaxCare plans are out there.

Also, I believe if the total repairs to the vehicle on a covered claim exceeds the (cumulative repairs cost) value of the car (speculative), you will get the remaining value of the vehicle in repairs and they will charge you for the rest. Then the 'contract' will be voided after that point. Everyones repairs to date were below the value of said vehicle, so you would not have experienced this. This fact is partially pointed out in the first column ' SERVICE CONTRACT ', second para, line 2 through 4 " THE TOTAL COST OF THE REPAIRS, PER VISIT, LESS THE DEDUCTIBLE, OR THE CASH VALUE OF THE VEHICLE WHICHEVER IS LESS. ". It is worded very craftily! They may say you can get two complete engines over a period of time, but the value of the vehicle is deminished by that first engine, so when you claim a second engine it may tip the scales over to above their assessed current value of the vehicle. This is not mentioned anywhere, and you will be in litigation if you exceed the value of the vehicle on subsequent claims above the cumulative value of previous claims. Don't forget the bottom left column paragraph stating they use remanufactured parts, unless they are not available, then new parts may be used. As a caution, they do not have to fix it fast, so them waiting for a remanufactured/salvaged part to fix it is on your time not theirs. Finally, I see nothing in the MaxCare plan listed here ( http://www.chryslerfactoryplans.com/...Provisions.pdf ) that says you get a refund at end of plan if you do not use it. You can cancel it based on the first 60 days provision with no claim and before it ends but it will be pro-rated based on time period. Please read this contract like you are covering the item, and that perspective will show you what they could deny as coverage. I always try to read contracts that would keep me from paying a clain, they certainly are writing them like that! No oral statement is valid on a written contract unless it is written into the printed contract and the printed contract allows write-in provisions.

We all know Chrysler corporation treats us like the plague when it comes to crossfires, nothing I have experienced since purchasing this car new (chrysler corporate and at two large dealerships) has changed this impression. Buyer beware!
Just purchased a used 2005 Limited Coupe 12/27/2010.... also agreed to the extended warranty:
1. Pinnacle Car Protection ... Mechanical Failure Service Contract
Selected Silver (PUS)...$100 deductible ... 3 Years
2. Road Hazard ... Tire Coverage...5 Years/Unlimited Mileage ... Deluxe

Both covered by.... Fidelity Warranty Services, Inc Deerfield Beach, FL
Cost = $2,702.82 .... breakdown:
$1,989.00 = Optional Vehicle Service Contract
$537.00 = Optional Tire and Wheel Guarantee
$176.82 = Sales Tax

Without going through the pro and con after finally reading it .... will be cancelling this on Monday.

The dealership has not been responsive to answering various e-mails concerning other issues..... no need to go into details.

Had I look at this Crossfire forum before pulling the plug..... might not have bought the it..... don't get me wrong, wife and I like it, but some of the issues I've come across, such as rust within the door area (sticky), and several others, plus the dealership attitude after the sale is somewhat depressing. Of course we all know this behavior is not just limited to this manufacturer or dealership

Though I'd just pass on my 2 cents..... in the weeks ahead might have a different prespective, and expect my post count will increase as well.

Well, that seems like too much money and the non responsiveness just adds to it. I have no money in Fiat/Chrysler and I do not work for them. I am no fanboy of any of the car manufactures. With that said, my research indicates the Chrysler MaxCare is the best our there. They cover more, work is done by a Chrysler dealership of your choice. Shop around for best price. I saw a huge difference dealer to dealer.

I for one am planing on getting the MaxCare plan in the spring when I put my roadster back on the road.

Bought my 2004 Crossfire used 3 months ago, it has 85000 miles on it. I was offered a warranty for 2600 bucks for 2 years it just didnt seem worth it. Sure love the car. So no warranty coverage for me I'll take my chances.

Well, anyone who knows about Bat's Crossfire knows that her car's been in and out of the shop for more repairs than probably any other Crossfire in the history of this forum.

All have been taken care of by the original factory warranty, and that's even included replacing the entire clutch and flywheel assembly. The flywheel twice, since the one they installed turned out to be damaged.

She's not sure if she's going to buy the Max Care warranty, or just get rid of the car when the bumper to bumper warranty runs out this coming October. She definitely doesn't want to risk owning the car, and having another $5k set of repairs drill a hole in her pocket.

Her dealer has estimated that the total of all the warranty work so far on her car has been ~$20k. Nuts that amount of work needed in the cars first 2 years of life.

Spring is just around the corner, too.
We can only wonder what will happen this time the weather starts to warm up.

BC.

I cancelled the extended warranty/tire-wheel option (explained a couple of posts above) this past Monday.

The following numbers are not exact, but used to give the general idea.

$400 monthly....36 month loan payment w/o the opt. warranty
$500 monthly....36 month loan payment with opt. warranty

Price of the warranty was added to the sale price....not 2 seperate contracts.

Though the warranty was cancelled a week after signing the contract, the loan payment of $500 was still the monthly payment. The contract could not be re-written. I will be paying the extra $100 each month, but the loan will not run the full 36 months, closer to 31-32 months. So, for the next 30+ months I'll be out $100 each month, which I could use for whatever. Would rather pay the $400 each month for 36 months. I'll just have to bite the bullet, and chalk it up as a learning experience.

After reading the warranty, seems they could deny a claim if one was to violate various things. For example, adding any after market part (possibly a different CIA)..... trans went.... it's possible they could deny fixing it because of the aftermarket CIA..... not that they would, but they could, even though there is no association to either. Another possible example.... go from 255's in the rear to 275-285... that may also be a no no. Sure, one could ask before hand, but unless it's in writting, they would have the upper hand........ could be completely wrong about this, but that is the way I'm reading it.
