Lightbulb Parts/Part number section

Has anyone considered that a section or sub-section purely for listing any and all part numbers for our cars.

For example, I just received in the mail today a replacement mirror switch (got it from ebay), and I was savvy enough to search and get it for a Mercedes SLK32 (plus all the other cars it goes to). On the side (and the bag, which had a MB packaging label on it) there is a Mercedes part number. With this, if we had a section for it, I could go and list the part number and where I obtained the part from so that other forum members who may need one (now or eventually) can find it easily without the hassle of searching thread upon thread (that may or may not have what their looking for).

Just my thoughts. What do you guys think?

By the way, the part number for the mirror switch which works the side mirrors (the one I got, you may or may not need the "A") is A 1298200610 and I got it from autolampsplus on ebay. It was the cheapest I could find at $48 (shipped).

Look in the sticky section of "Technical and Mods"

I mean like an entire section, not just one thread. That way, any time someone finds a better place to get a part (cheaper, etc.) it'll be easy to find and not lost in a thread full of other part numbers. It would have it's own thread.

That would be a big help. I just ordered that switch from a TX mopar dealer for $62.00 .

Another reason for that type of list is the delays at Chrysler. I broke a rotor retaining bolt recently and ordered it from the local stealer for $12.00. They promised to have it within 4 days. I called MB who had it in stock for $5.40.
of course I canceled the order with Chrysler.

Talk to the mods. This has been discussed before, over and over and the answer was to have ALL part numbers in ONE thread.

I guess that would be the simplest way to do it, but it seems like it would help immensely with the actual shopping of the part. Witchal's ordeal is a good example. If there was a section for parts, I'm sure him and many others (including myself) would go straight there if we needed to find a part. The way it is now, I wasn't even aware that there was "parts thread". Neither was he. Neither was the mirror switch listed. A section the main page would be much more visible.

Any more input? I think this would be a highly constructive addition to the forum. The fact that I could even fix the mirror switch (and subsequently cleaned the handbrake shroud) wouldn't be possible without the step-by-step instructions found on this forum.

Default need help with slk 320 model year

I just ordered a front tie rod assembly as mine is damaged. Problem is I thought that our cars were based on a 2004 slk 320 & now I am not sure of the year 2003 or 2004? Can anyone confirm the year because the part numbers are different & my order is cross border which is difficult to return.

Thanks for the help

I would guess the 2003, but it's iffy with suspension and steering parts. From what I've heard, this car has a number of CLK suspension and steering parts. THIS is why a separate section would be good; Someone might have listed it already in a place you could readily find it.

I was told by a member on a different thread that 98-04 is the same parts & he seems to know his stuff, so I am going with that.
Thanks for the reply

For the most part, they are. Almost anything for the SLK32, when it comes to mechanical/electrical components, will fit our cars too. Don't quote me on that though. Sometimes it makes a difference what year or sometimes a part will fit the whole generation. Sometimes car manufacturers change a part or 2 (or more) after the first few years.
