Default Base Convertibles Really Do Exist... here is the proof.

In response to a past thread... here is proof that they exist... and the base convertible has cloth seats.

Yea, and EVERY Roadster I've seen on a CarMax lot this summer has been a base model.

I didn't need no proof.

The base roadsters and coupes both have the same non leather seat, as does the SE roadster. Notice they are not even the same seat as in the Limited or SRT. See the seperate headrest? They are a dead ringer for the Mercedes SLK seat. BTW, they all black cloth and are non powered as well. The base model is not really that rare. Seems there were a fair amount of them, You will find several right there on Ebay. My problem is that most dealers try to value them the same as a Limited. And they aren't. The lack of a good stereo and sub woofer being my primary complaint.

At the time (in 2005) I bought a new base coupe. I could have spent a couple extra thousand for the limited but didn't want all those extras. The base coupe fit me perfectly. I wanted black and didn't like the silver exterior trim. I didn't want leather because it cracks and is too hot in Texas for leather. And I didn't want power seats because my fear is that the motor would break one day without a warranty. And who cares about heated seats in South Texas? And I never use fog lights. Not to mention I wanted a stick shift. Who needs a crappy cup holder?.... base came with a tray.

To me the base coupe was a perfect fit. My decision had nothing to do with money... even though it was conveniently priced lower than a limited.

Well, eruby,

CarMax IS the most expensive place to buy a Crossfire, that is for sure.
