I think it is the module

Yeah I am going to have to make use of my 2 year warranty at $100 a visit. I thought it cured itself yesterday when I almost made it all the way home without a single light and them BAM the stupid light comes back on. When I was parked with the A/C on and there were no light in the dash I checked the engine bay and my fan was not spinning, sat there and stared at it for about 5 min and my fan did about a half turn and then stopped, I was going to replace the fuse but if the fuse were to be bad I don't think any juice would even get to the fan...I could be wrong though.

So this far I know the fan does spin when it is hooked up to the battery, the fan will "semi" move on it own not sure if it actually fully spins at this point in time, my car doesn't overheat in stop and go traffic, the 50 fuse appears to be fine but I'm not 100% sure on this one, and car problems are a pain in my @$$.

So the situation get's more strange. Yesterday I was playing around with my fan and I was getting it to spin freely as fast as I could and then it kicked on and started turning on and off when I turned the a/c on and off which is a good sign. The fan is giving a squeeking noise from time to time sounding like it is coming from the motor assembly, sometimes the fan will wind down to a stop when the a/c is on and sometimes it'll just kick on. When the coolant light comes on if I go to the fan and spin it fast again it will kick back on. So now I am thinking more along the lines of my fan being the problem and not my control module and or the thermostat but it's just completely strange. I have only had the light come back on once since I got it spinning on it own yesterday and that happened after we tried to guage the volts with a voltage meter from the fan control when the a/c was on it was reading nothing but when we plugged the plug into the fan again the fan kicked on. Does anyone here know if the fan module will give you volts if it is not plugged into the fan itself, because it doesn't seem that way? Well for now at least I know that it has the ability to work sometimes lol, cars...GOTTA LOVE EM!

Why dont you hook up my fan and see if it does act any differently? I know you said wires get hot real quick but watch it carefully and try it. If my fan acts the same as well then it is not the fan.

I am thinking it is more of a wiring / electrical problem than fan to be honest. If it was fan, it wouldnt kick in at all..?? It is indeed strange.

That is what I am thinking Ed. Kaya I am not putting that thing anywhere near my car I wouldn't even feel comfortable giving it back to you if you had such intentions lol I think your old fan has already caused enough damage...

I agree with end on this. From what you've described BP, it sounds like the fan may be going. Electric motors don't always just go completely when they do, sometimes it's gradual. I hope the new fan works for you guys and it isn't wiring or something else. All I know is you should have Muscle's destroyed, ground into fine powder, and buried before it infects the rest of us.

Really weird how both of you had the same problem at the same time...

Well..... maybe.

But, well, maybe ...................... it's not weird.

Deb Walker's '04 had a fan motor failure not two months ago.
Electric motors CERTAINLY have a limited life - most electronic modules, if treated right, can last for a LONG time (with heat, water and electric surges being the culprits behind most failures).

I think we've just stumbled onto another common problem with the Crossfire - the fan motor.
Maybe we are all learning something... something to be ready for.

Sure beats a bad Fan Control Module - they are even more money.

unbelievable. I bought the fan at 8am in the morning on tuesday to get it shipped out the same day but I just got a confirmation that they shipped it out just now today. When I checked the fan out, i sent a message to the seller that the car is down, this is emergency adn that i would appreciate if they shipped it out asap. And that i would throw 10.00 extra to get it shipped a bit faster. No respond to that. I just sent them an email and told them how much i didnt appreciate this, etc. I never neg anyone but this dude is gonna get negged or at the very best neutral feedback wil be left. Unless, he does something about it. :/

This is where I ordered from. But customr service sucks. simply search for crossfire fan and use other sellers IMO. they are not even being nice. Rude! And ships slow.

If your engine did overheat - you should change the oil - overheating will breakdown viscosity.

So my guess was correct my fan did indeed go kaput. Which is good since it is easy to replace. I should be getting my new fan anytime now so hopefully all that BS will be gone when I get my new one.

I got mine from Auto Parts Avenue, and I am going to assume they are the same one that you ordered it from because I am running into the same stuff with these people. They shouldn't need two business days to ship out a fan I ordered on Saturday...If I don't get this by thurs I am going to flip.

dude, i ordered at 8am on tuesday and they shipped it at 4pm on thursday!

Plus, when i asked them why would they ship me my item two days later AFTER i left them a message upon check out saying that this is urgent and i would appreciate if they shipped it right away, and I was willing to pay even extra for a faster shipping option. But got no respond. And then when I wasnt happy about it, they responded me saying "should have read our policy saying we ship within 2 days".

Oh they are getting negged thats for sure. I havent negged anyone since 06.

I will be negging them as well they can say whatever they want about their policy and not being open on weekends but ordering Saturday morning and getting it almost a week later is borderline ridiculous. I explained to them as well I need this part by thursday because I am going to Kentucky for the weekend and now I might have to take the trek without the fan. Useless company I'll never order their junk again.
