Hi guys need your help again. Warming the car this morning and noticed all 3 rear brake light, and tail lights stays on with out turning on light switch. Push the brake pedal no brake lights. Put it in drive and reverse still no brake lights. I turn on the headlights they came on fine but when i cut off head lights off i get the same thing rear lights and brake lights stay on. No indicator lights show in dash board. What is going on. Anyone having this problem. Very afraid to drive a car with no brake lights Help!! Wanted to start here first then work my way to the dealer if i have to.

Your post is confusing. You keep mentioning brake AND tail lights. I am going to assume you really just mean BRAKE lights.

You state that "all three" are on - that is, the center brake light and both left and right brake lights are on. If THIS is the case, I'd suspect the brake light switch is bad. Every other car on the road has this switch mounted such that pushing the brake pedal activates it, so it has always been an easy switch to find. I ASSUME the Crossfire's brake light switch is mounted in a similar way - and that it's not activated by the pressure in the brake lines or some other silly-assed way.

I'd go looking for this switch, taking the trim out from under the dash is easy, you only need a phillips screwdriver for the 2 (or is it 3) screws under there. You can use an voltage probe light or digital/analog meter to see if this switch is switching.

If it is not the problem, looking at the diagrams of the car's wiring will tell you if the BCM is part of this chainn of events. I don't have time to look it up right now, but I strongly suspect you have a bad brake light switch or a low brake pedal - causing the switch to activate.

I had intermittent issues with my tail lights staying on as well, it was when I put LED bulbs in them and I think something shorted out. Before buying a switch, I would uninstall and reinstall all your bulbs, checking them for issues or burnt marks before reinstalling.

Hope this helps.

If anyone happens to come across the MB part number for the brake light switch I would be grateful if you shared it!

Buying new bulbs won't help since they're on all the time. Sounds like a brake light issue to me and if it's the taillights then that would probably be a faulty switch.

pizzaguy your right! had a electrical diagnose $47 says it was the break light switch. They ordered the part says it will be in this Sat. it will cost me $103 plus labor = $149 wtf plus the 47$ already spent

Black03AR part 001 545 64 09 or SLK3 170.45 at EuropartsAmerica.com $19.23 wtf However this part listed under slk320. i do not know if it will fit our cars

Bill F your link looks like a bargain too!
