Default Don't use Armorall on any of the interior of your Crossfire!

I just had my Burnt Red w/ Gray and Black interior Crossfire in for the first schedule "A" 7,000 mile checkup. My dealership is in Clearwater Florida. Great service!! They put in the transmission kit for the first gear slippage. They ordered the new radio. It will be next week. I asked my servcie manager about the gray finish coming off my hard surface interiors. After numerous questions about my obsession for keeping my car clean we came to the conclusion that after I used Armorall to keep the seats looking top notch I would use the same baby towel to wipe down the interior. They feel this is softening the finish and the gray finish is rubbing off. They are addressing this and rectifying the problem. Has anyone else had this problem? Just a note: I enjoy reading everyone's postings and can't imagine you guys up north having to put your Crossfires away for the winter. Bummerrrrrr! Hey Ryan - would you ever had quessed I'd be doing this?

I have noticed a couple spots wearing off on the center console.I don't use armor all.I read on a couple mercedes sites about poor interior paint quality on the slk interior. Before you go out of 3/36 have the panels replaced under warranty.

Is it the grey of the dash bottom and the center console sides or the silver grey down the center of the dash and console that is showing the problem?

The slk interior shows wear on the "flat" painted areas such as the dash bottom. I assume the "shiny" silver grey area is protected by a plastic film or polyurthane as is done with wood veneer.

I've been using armorall on my interior without any problems. I think it looks damn sharp! On another note, why on earth are you using it on your leather seats?? I even just checked the website..

Armor All Protectant is the quick and easy way to clean, shine and protect your plastic and vinyl.

Forget worrying about your dash!! Keep using it on your dash but don't touch your seats with this stuff!! Get some real leather cleaner/conditioner.

Armor All also has a leather cleaner and I've used it in my Ford Expedition. It does make the leather too shiny so I'm looking for another one for my Crossfire, maybe an Autosol Leather care and Leather cleaner.

Leather Care.............$9.95
Leather Cleaner.........$9.95

You can order it at : www.bmpdesign.com (800) 648-7278

Try Meguiar's Rich leather cleaner/conditioner.The paint seems to wear off the painted console side trim where you rest your arm.

Is the console black or grey or "red"? My understanding is that the balck is the "original" color and the others will wear.

Default Using Armorall

It's the hard surface gray areas. The right side of the console box, on the glove box, on the flat surface right behind the steering wheel. The black dash and door panels are not effected. The service manager promises me that their "touch up man" can take care of the existing problem. I have put my service manager on notice that I will stop using the Armorall on the hard surfaces but if the gray keeps rubbing off we will go back to square one with this. I mean the car is only 4 months old and I'm concerned what the interior will look like in a year. In regards to using it on the leather it has kept the seats in great shape. All my previous cars have had leather seats and I have always used Armorall on them. It not only keeps the leather soft but it also cleans any soil from dirty or oily hands and such. I originally used Armorall Leather Care on my Xfire but it seemed to leave a slight discoloration.

dad, im glad you finally joined this site. and just to correct you, you have had the car for over 4 months...you got it at the end of july/beginning of august. also, any owners of the upsolute chip, such as wmichaels, convince my dad how good the chip is for "better gas mileage"

The only thing I use on any of my interior is a cloth with warm water on it. Makes it look like the day I drove it off the lot. No fake ghetto shine here.
