Default Getting noisy

My 05 Crossfire just hit 50,000 miles. No problems at all, great everything, just changed the tires and oil. However, its loud when idling, kinda sounds like a truck, just not as loud if that makes sense. Any thoughts as to why?

More specific on the noise? Is it coming from the engine, exhaust, other? Ticking etc..

I just hit 56000, 04 MT. Doesn't sound much different. Feels different but haven't driven another xfire since I got mine so it may not be that far off. Only thing that I really notice is the air injection when it turns on at idle.

My car had that noise too. Was the water pump going bad at 58,400 miles. Open the hood and check your pulleys. If the water pump is bouncing around, the bearings have gone and you'll need to replace it.

Airscape, its definetely coming from the engine compartment, its in tune with the normal engine noises. AlG, I'll check out the water pump, thanks.

If you suspect the water pump, loosen/remove the belt and turn the pump by hand.

If it's going bad (bearings) it will feel rough and jerky in movement, rather than smooth to the touch.

You can use the same approach for the alternator...

Those strange noises go away if you turn that great stereo up to ....oh say 40!
