Default Dual climate nonsense

Hey folks!

I never adjusted the dual climate control in my car (I live in Florida) and used to have it on the coldest setting all the time, blowing ice cold air out of my a/c. Now, I went on a little road trip with a friend and she was getting cold after a while so I told her to adjust the temperature with the dual climate wheels. Nothing changed however. The only time the temperature changed was when she turned it all the way to "hot" (last red dot) and then hot air blew out of the vents.
Is something wrong with my a/c? Does anybody have a similar problem?
Thanks for letting me know!

Nick

It did change just not perceptible enough in such a small cabin area until hot air blew out to warm her little area of the world. theere's nothing wrong with your AC in my opinion. i think out AC in this car is one of the best I've seen. averages out with the heated seats.

I have observed that if I have the A/C on and the passenger wants their air a little warmer, they won't GET any WARM unless I put my side several "dots" above full cold. If I fail to do this, I get the same thing you did.

I've had two roadsters so far, same thing with both of them. It's the way it's designed. Next time, try running yours up a few "dots" and see if she on the other side has more control of temperature.

Oh, and all women are nuts ... so if you are trying to please her, you are wasting your time.

I've found a little wait time after the adjustment goes a long ways. It's not an instant thing.

Cool Re: Dual climate nonsense

Chris on post 5 has it! It takes a little time for the coolant to run through the valve/coil so give it about a minute before you start feeling the warmer air. I tested mine, ice cold from drivers side, then hot from passenger. Then I reversed it. Ice cold from passenger side and hot from drivers side. Mine worked great!

OK, will try it again. The last time I got either ICE COLD or REALLY HOT. But I will have to try to lower mine a bit and then try the passenger again!
Any which way, it's a strange system haha. But on the other hand, I am very pleased with the temperature of the A/C in this car - especially in Florida, the ice cold temperature comes in very handy!

I agree with the statements that it's the best A/C I've ever had in a car and also that there is a lag time before the effect of a change is felt. Add to that, I find the controls super-sensitive - the difference between one dot and the next is noticeable, at leaste with A/C . I don;t drive mine in the winter so there's not a lot I can say about the heat. I have been surprised, though, by the effetiveness of the "dual zone" too. At first I thought the concept in a cabin that small was ridiculous but it actually works!
