Default Need help now PLEASE

Hey I am concerned about what just happened to my car. It's raining outside and I just got onto the highway n started giving the car gas. All of a sudden I lost all power, I would hit the gas and nothing. Just bogging down. I pulled over an I saw that the BAS light was on. I turned off the car an let it sit for a sec. Turned it back on and has alot of backfires. When I rev the car it hesitates, Ron's taking a sec or two to move up. The car drives normal. I can acceriate normaly when in gear. I'm noticing that if the rpms are about 3 grand they increase normaly if I rev it. If below 3 grand give or take I get the delay and backfire an rough increase in rpms. So coming out neutral from a dead stop an starting up in first gear is rough. And got the bog down in rpms an is hard to start out. I got gas this morning, maby bad tank of gas? Lol idk. Very nervouse. I have no check engine light. Please help, getting in a panic.

I do have a frot grill mount intake. But when I drove 40 of min to and from to work this morning in the pouring rain it was fine. I have had this same intake for a while now n have driven in rain before. But why the BAS light. An would water do that? If so now what? Or how can I test if that's it or not.

Let's see now. Two problmes -engine runs poorly and BAS light. Now I am no genius and I don;t know what BAS is but I would start here rather than shotgun the poor running issue.

Well since no one else has chimed in.. I've read tons of times how "voltage sensitive" the cars are. Makes me wonder if around 3 grand rpm the alternator starts kicking enough juice to compensate a "marginal" battery. Does it spin like a top when cranking on it? Headlights fairly bright when idleing or kinda dim till reved up to the 3 grand mark? Just a thought..

I'm probably totally off base. Just sounded like your car was choking out because your filter was wet.

I'd dry your car out, disconnect the battery to reset everything and see what happens.

I'd agree if it weren't for the fact over 3 grand rpm requires more air than at 1000 or 2000 rpm.

The stronger engine pull and engine suction could pull through a wet filter better. Kind of like why a bad fuel filter will stutter at idle but the car will drive alright, or the same with a real dirty air filter.

Guess that explains why my chevy truck would run up to 45 mph and fall on its face past that.. worked a whole lot better when I changed the filiter to allow more flow that was required at higher rpm and load. "Seems" the same principal would apply to an air filter.. Just saying..

You're right, bad example. Fuel is pushed in while air is sucked in. Doesn't matter what your RPMs are, your fuel pump can only push so much.

I was just trying to relate it to my buddys 90's camaro. It idled **** poor but drove fine.

I saw some Impala SS's and others at the WDC and they were the same.

Is it possible that you have a vacuum leak somewhere, possibly on the brake booster? Increased revs result in more vacuum and this seals the leak.
