eratic stalling
Also, how many miles on the car, is it an SRT-6, is it on a regularly scheduled maintenance program (air filter change at the least).
The CPS will usually fail after the engine and sensor get hot, then if cooled, will run okay, till hot again.
Was that your symptom before the CPS change, or did you change the CPS, with no change to symptoms (and did you use a Bosch, versus a knockoff)...???

I have 56,000 miles, and regualr service, it is a 2004 coupe, The engine just stops, everything else runs. when I try to restart the car nothing happens not even a click, just the engine fan comes on. If I leave it and come back (pushed to the side of the road) after 30-60 mins it fires up and off I go. A few times it has even died while driving down the hiway. Same thing wait 30-60 mins and off we go. The Dealer says nothing is wrong.

I'm in agreement, these symptoms look like the RCM and bad solder joints to me.
Check out this link for details:

(Also, most Dealers are dead from the neck up, so no surprise that they are clueless. If your car has an extended Chysler warranty, print out the link above, and tell them to read it. No warranty, buy an iron, and practice up on your soldering skills. Or do a swap with Tighed1 for $10 bucks...lol...)

Just purchased my 2004 crossfire coupe.(white exterior/navy leather interior) Been driving less than a week and has stalled twice. Both times while idiling at a street light. The car always turns over and starts in a matter of minutes. AFter it restarts the check engine light does come on then goes away within 30 mins of running it.Car has 60000 kms on it and has been to every maintenance appointment! Is this bad gas? Fuel filter? I am kinda worried as I do hear stories of them stalling while on hwy and driving and this is a big accident waiting to happen.

Thanks to all who contribute to this site. You guys have saved me soo much time, money, and stress by having the answers I need when the crossfire is having a bad day. (2004 coupe)
Recently replaced the CPS per the instructions on this thread. Here are a few tips learned from experience:
1.) The clip with the wire is a pain to get off. The tab refused to release with thumb pressure alone and there is hardly room to get any leverage. What worked for me was to use a long skinny flat head screwdriver to pry up the tab (it is hooked over a nub on the sensor) don't use too much force when prying...just enough to lift it off the nub and then pull the plug off the sensor with your hand or some needle nose plyers. It will come off with very little resistance once the tab is unhooked.
2.) To get the hidden screw off, use a six pointed 1/4" socket. It will also need to be 1/4" drive because a 3/8" drive socket will be too big and will hit the edge of the sensor. Some on this forum said to use a six pointed 7mm socket, but I found that this was slipping and I was worried about stripping the screw head. Also, go to Walmart or Autozone and get a 6" long 1/4" drive extension and socket wrench if you don't have one. This worked great to loosen the screw. Put the socket on the extension and get it seated on the screw head by hand, then attach the socket wrench. Apply firm even pressure until you feel the screw break free. It will be easy to turn after it is loosened. I suggest having a magnetic tool handy to retrieve the screw so you won't drop it. The sensor then comes out with a gentle tug from the needle nose.
3.) When putting the screw back in ...it is easy to mess up and drop it. I used white teflon tape that you would use for plumbing fixtures. I wrapped the tape around the screw head a couple times and then stuck it into the socket. This did a great job holding it in place until I was able to line the screw up with the hole and get it threaded. After that, just hand tighten the screw with your socket and extension, reattach the wire, and you're done.
Hopefully this will save someone some time and trouble!
Thanks,
Brent

Help, as I mentioned earlier my 2004 white crossfire has stalled 3 times in the last 3 days and each time the check engine light comes on. This all happens while idling at a light or stop sign. I am in Canada and the Chrysler cps is over $200.00. I have also recently been told that the cam shaft sensor should be replaced at the same time. Does this sound right? Do I have to use the Chrysler part or can use any of the other brands as they are $100.00. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Brent
