High pitch whine... HELP!!!
ok guys new around here, ive got an 04 automatic with 17k miles on it. the last 2 days i have had a whining noise above 2200rpm, today it has gotten worse. now it whines anything above 1400rpm and when i push the car it screams, ive had a buddy whos a tech for gm take a quick look he said it sounds like its coming from under the car and that no noise is coming from the engine. he said it could possibly be the trans but he only had 5 min to look. i can put it in park and rev it and it will also whine... HELP im lost and worried its something bad.
ohh and also if i shut it off and restart the noise is gone for a little bit (the harder i drive it the faster it comes back) quickest it has come back is about 30seconds longest is about 5 min. and there are no codes set
anymore info needed just ask and i will post, i REALLY need your help

My initial guess would be a vacuum leak.
Pull the engine cover off and start inspecting. Use a spay bottle with some distilled water (so it doesn't leave mineral deposits) and lightly spray a stream (not the spray pattern) of water (with the engine running) around the mating surfaces of the intake manifold, hose connectors etc. If you spray something and the noise stops for a bit you found your leak source.
Tighten up any loose bolts or clamps and if that doesn't help you might need a new gasket (if one is used) or further inspection might reveal you need something else.

FFFFFFUUUUUUUDDDDDDGGGGGGGEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so pissed off right now, i have a buddy who has a merc and has the trans fluid dipstick, so we check the fluid and it doesnt even touch the stick. so we go to the parts store and the only thing they have is valvoline import full synthetic which list MB236.10 as one of its recommended uses, so we buy 3 quarts (more to be safe then sorry) and we get back and top it off until it reads full (1.75 quarts) so we take it for a spin and 2 miles in the trans starts slipping
so we crawled it home and parked it.
now i have to flush it completely with the MB stuff cuz i was an idiot and bought the cheap ****....... fuming here but answer this. why did it start slipping when the fluid claimed to be correct??????????
well i would have had to flush it if i i put a new torque convertor anyways.....
anyone interested in a 2004 coupe only 17390 miles
BaT lol

I haven't done this myself but how I understand it is these cars require a temp reading from your tranny fluid. You take that reading and with the car running (neutral or park I don't know for sure) see where the fluid comes to on the dipstick.
ok another update, went to a local chrysler dealer and talked their trans tech. he said its the pump in the trans that is going bad and the whining is from the debris clogging the filter (which explains why when i shut it off it is quiet for a little bit, the debris clogging the filter falls off when the flow stops and it takes a min to build back up)
also the slipping is we overfilled the trans (we filled to hot when cold) and the fluid began to aerate since air compresses we got a slipping trans.......
