"tips and tricks" ?
Are there any tips and tricks you guys know about the xf ?
My brother found a video a few years ago when he had a g35 coupe that showed him things that the manual didn't
Example turning the key in the driver side door to the lock position would close all his windows and Sun roof and there was a hidden menu in his navigation I think aswell as a way to have his seats memorize the position without actually having a seat memory button ..just wondering if there are things like that in the xf

I read the throttle reset in a DIY ,how would you disable the chime?
There's kind of a Launch Control feature....
At a dead stop (clutch in)...floor the gas pedal..RPMs rise and stay at 4,200....
Drop clutch & keep gas pedal to floor during subsequent shifts....
Done correctly, in the right conditions....a box stock 6 speed may hit 60 under 6 seconds.
More appropriately, you might just refer to it as a; 4200 RPM DROP CLUTCH LAUNCH

Here's a good tip.....
If you ever have a blowout at 80 mph on a freeway & you find something that looks like a hard hollow metal straw that impaled the tread area of the tire....before you take out the compressor & tire repair goop ....first look at the inside sidewall of the tire....in all likelihood the wheel has come down at 80 mph and totally sliced open the tire. The goop isn't going to plug a giant opening.
Next, when the highway repair guy that roams the freeways stops & wants to help you find a place to take your wheel to have a new tire put on (& doesn't want his legitimate employer to know he's doing this on the side).........don't ride around with him for hours while he has to take his real calls....you may find yourself riding shotgun in a ghetto & fearing for your life !!!!!
Just get a ride home & jack up your backup Crossfire......take a wheel & tire back to the blowout site & drive your car home & then take the one that blew out somewhere to be replaced.

1)Turn key to ON/START - within 60 seconds, turn ignition OFF and fasten the driver seat belt.
2)Start engine and wait for the seat belt light to turn off.
3)Within 60 seconds unbuckle/rebuckle the seat belt 3 times - ending with buckled, you will hear a single chime (sometimes this verification chime is slightly different just the same it works to disable the chime).
This confirms you have turned the repeater chimes off. Repeat the sequence or disconnect the battery to restore the reminder function."
Disconnecting the battery will reset the chime and you'll have to do it again!

You know, we have a list of common fixes. We need a list of common "Helpful stuff you don't know" and how to implement them:
FSS Reset
Throttle Response Reset
Seatbelt chime disable
I know there are others, but my coffee is very weak this morning...

LAMO!!
I spit up a little coffee reading this.

I knew someone would enjoy that story....at one point in the ghetto the guy told me to get in the truck real quick ..."We have to leave right now!!"....the locals were about to slice us up.....
If you want to get rid of the vinegar smell after having the air conditioning on, when leaving the car, push the REST button on the upper center dash - it runs the blower for about 20 minutes and clears out the system.
Also, there is a hidden coin area in the front of the ash tray. Open the ash tray by pushing it in, and then pull down of the front of the ash tray - you'll see an area that you can put quarters in.

Reaaaalllyyy??
I think it's an auto trans only deal. My 05 limited roadster with a stick doesn't do that. Let go of the key and it stops cranking, engine started or not.
Here's a thread with these and other cool thingys about our cars.
