Default Difference in gas mileage

I've been doing almost all local driving lately and noticed my gas mileage is sometimes as low as 19 mpg. I was starting to think something is wrong. Did a road trip yesterday, came back today, and average 30 mpg for the trip. That seems like a huge difference.

There is another thread on this very subject...most of us have the same variation, I believe...

Sounds like typical gas mileage for a Crossfire to me.

Stop and go city traffic is ugly. Put a ScanGuage11 on and see what's happening.

Those 3 to 5 mile trips get you 17 to 19mpg, maybe 20 if you time the lights. Short little trips just kill the fuel economy. Could see no difference running the a/c or not using the ScanGuage.

The nice freeway drive at 70mph for 20 some miles will crank out 30 to 31mpg.

I noticed things improve significantly around town if I keep my right foot out of the floorboard, but, why the hell would I do that??

In the UK ive noticed my fuel economy go down to about 20 mpg in the last 2 months..... but could that be due to using the air con constantly now ???

Previously I could crank about 28 a gallon out of her.....
Also had engine running while i was on the fone for an hour the other day.... that gobbles the fuel !!!
