Horse feathers! A C4 with the L98/4+3 (a trans designed for top end) had a max speed of 153 mph.

It is amazing that he walked away after hitting that trailer. That cat's definitely down to 8 lives.

I'm not knocking the NA. It's a great high-performance car. I drove one for 3 years and thought it compared well with my C4 Vette and certainly wouldn't mind owning another one.
the audi spoiler is a fraction of the size of a crossfire. Just because it has a Chrysler emblem doesn't mean it was meant for America. I know for a fact there are a lot of crossfires in Germany and Europe. They can keep up with any Audi or Porsche on the road.

Gary, Was the late Mr. Caldwell a CICCI member? What a sad Thanksgiving for his family and friends.

All I know is at 120 mph I had no sensations of "squirrely".. she handled it perfectly. Thoughts of flashing lights.. tickets flowing out of the glove box.. and tow truck ride for my baby is the only reason she didn't get to go faster..

Ok, FINE! The NA can pull a 50' radius u-turn at 150 mph.
There! Satisfied?

Now, does anyone know him. Was he at the Tail of the Dragon or any GTG's?
His name is Brian Caldwell 45 years old, lives in the Raleigh NC area. I want to say it's a grey NA Roadster but it's hard to tell being burned like that.

Nobody by that name registered at CICCI.
Still wonder if he was among us here on .org though.
No way to verify members here by real name as far as I know
Also this person lived only 5 hours from the Tail of the Dragon
.

To be honest, the chances are he isn't if you consider how many crossie's are on the road vs # of foum members.
I live in Kinwood Tx. I know there's at least 4 cars in this neighborhood but I'm the only one on the forum.
Also, have they determined the car was his?

I agree totally , as many xfs are on the streets registered and being driven is much higher than that of the members on this forum
Idk Why anyone with an xf wouldn't wanna join this forum
Also wanted to add that if this guy lived close to the dragon I'm sure he has taken it up there a few times and if he has I'm sure he is a little more experienced at driving than the articles make it seem
Not sayin he's a pro but you know what i mean

OK ... I'll be the first one to mention it's a bummer there appeared to be no salvageable parts... maybe the left rear wheel, but the center cap is missing.

Well, I am sure there will be more in the investigation to follow. Some good debate here, some not so, but I can tell you, you will be pursued in IN if you turn away from a check point. Given the road and the time of day, and the fact it is very easy to get to 140 in a XF, I am sure that pursuit wasn't a long drawn out one. That was a Dodge cruiser into the pole btw. Not a Crown Vic. They are more than capable of keeping up. We had a similar one like this some time ago. The guy called his wife during the pursuit, stress in the marriage and all, and committed suicide by turning into the path of an oncoming truck. You just never know today...he certainly made the wrong decision. I made a few high speed runs late last night...140 isn't anything in these cars modded a little...I won't mention the top speed...

He'd been better not driving that night....hindsight...but, something to always think about. I just came up from the morgue. 25 yr old down there for an overdose...what are these kids thinking...let alone a 45 yr old. Decisions...we all have to make them...let's just be thankful today...
