Unfortunate story but checkout what the writer says about the Crossfire.
In this case, law enforcement consisted of two Highway Patrol troopers who lit out to catch the driver of a black Chrysler Crossfire,
a high-end coupe with a top speed of 155 miles per hour.
This wasn’t your usual gas-sipping, underpowered four-banger.
The Crossfire, a spawn of the ill-fated merger of Chrysler and Mercedes-Benz, has solid German engineering and performance to match.

I agree with the assessment. Not sure how accurate that top speed is for a Roadster.

Websters Third College Edition's first two definitions definitely don't agree/categorize our XF's as "spawn". Suffice to say they (XF's) weren't a process of a biological process nor brought forth in contempt or great numbers either! I figure the author of the article was speaking in abstract, but having watched many movies from 'Hollywood' with the word 'spawn' in them, I would not have used that word myself. I'm kinda still interested in who this guy was, and if he was a member. Anyone know those specifics yet?

IA few years ago, there seemed to be a rash of high speed chases in Cleveland Ohio. Like you said, they all ended badly. But the one thing that remained a constant with every chase, was that the Cleveland Police seemed to possess the uncanny ability to call off the chase just seconds before the offender crashed and burned.

Looks like the Cleveland Police have adopted a new approach to ending car chases. I guess a Chevy Malibu can hold its own with those Hemi cruisers.
