TT and Z Forums???
got to admit, one of my clients came in a few months ago in a black tt drop top and it was beautiful. Probably would be my second choice. As for the z4 BMW drop top, with the power top that can be activated with the key fob, ours doesn't compare to that engineering. Hope the 2006 Crossfire has some improvements in the top mechanism. The z4 also does not need to be latched manually, does it all, open to close one easy motion.
Sorry i
I should have said .... a classier look
Something that is between the tt . z , etc. ( sporty cars ) and the mercedes, Jaguars (classy automobiles ). Apart of both but neither.
The above is my opinion. based on 46 years of driving various cars and automobiles. No hurt feeling intended.

Having driven both the Xfire and the TT's my choice would still have fallen on the Xfire even if all other specs were 100% identical.....because in my very personal opinion it looks better, there are fewer of them and I like the mix of modern/vintage styling cues in the body.
The TTs are a very good car with excelllent build quality...the design is just not my cup of tea overall, but certain elements are very nice, like the air vents. The idiot driver induced duckbill spoiler is a big turn off for me. It was only put on when a few morons managed to get a TT into the guard rails of german autobahn corners by very, very bad driving. In tests the factory drivers, and a few of the current DTM drivers tested the TT with and without the duckbill and determined that only at the highest speeds with very quick changes of brake/gas/brake was it possible to really make it swap ends. Other than that it would behave edgy but easily contollable.
Which basically means it requires a driver with at least some very basic skills when driven at the upper edge of its envelope...legally you can't get even close to that on US roads...so it's useless.
Personally I don't give a second thought to 0-60 or 1/4 mile times...that is not the measurement of a car for me. Cornering and acceleration and braking on a track type arrangement are more what I measure cars by. And with the exception of quattro in the wet I'll take the RWD Xfire over a TT any day. On a dry track the Xfire would still get the nod over the quattro TT just because of the way it works for me.
I have raced an Audi 90 Quattro back in Germany in Rallye Races and would not have traded that for anything else....but on dry tarmack....it is not the ideal system....at least not for me. Audi's factory team in the DTM and other "stock" car racing series are certainly making it work.
Z or G.......Love that engine....but I am afraid nothing else exictes me about either of them. As for the older Zs....like a 240 or 260.....those I like
The exchange between Andrew and one of the TT guys shows that we can be civil with each other....and if you guys from the TT sector of the world can't do that you have no buisness being here.
One thing has to be clear to all. We all paid a fair amount of money for our Xfires,TTs,Zs and what ever else is in the mix. And hell will freeze over before either side will indicate any doubt of having made the best choice....so let's not even try shall we.
We all love our respective cars and with just a little respect we can all share that. But AZ and Vegas are 100% correct. This is our house, so if you come here behave and be at least somewhat polite. If Xfire owners misbehave on your respective forum...you have my permission to bash them all you want.
Around here we don't all agree on everything and may not always be civil with each other, but there is one big difference....we all belong here

They call man of 21st centry civilized. We are not, we are de-civilized. Man was design to war. If we can't war on the battlefield, we war any where eles we can. On the highways, at work at sports, even on a web site. WHY?????
I hope most of you didn't spend 25-30k on a car just to war as too who's car is better than who's. This is not only for xf but tt, z, bms and anyone eles.
Don't be offended it's in our nature to destroy ourselves. That includes me.

I think that the violent nature of man is responsible for putting us on top of the food chain
It allowed us to be concious about our environment and gave us knowledge to create technology in order to survive and become predators - meaning it made us **** Sapiens smarter
We're just natural inventors and geniuses, even to our own emotions
That's why we have smileys

Its funny, but I have no problems with drivers of TTs, 350s, M3s etc. on the road. Its the young bloke in his Peugeot GTi or Ford Focus who wants to race.
Just remember, Jeremy Clarkson likes the TT. Best reason NOT to have one.
