Default Remote key stopped working

I already replaced the two batteries for the remote with two new ones. I was very positive that would solve the problem. I followed the instructions outlined in the owner's manual to reactivate the remote but I got nothing.

Im having to lock and unlock manually with the key.

Has anybody had that problem?

Yep, I have it with both my fobs. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Usually will work after I start the car as the fob mates up with the ring around the ignition but many times the car won't lock with it. I don't really worry about it much as long as the alarm doesn't go off but I will admit it's a pain.

Sometimes the air pump does not work because of poor contacts due to water leaking into the trunk, or sometimes the pump will work but a broken air line allows the air to leak.
If you can hear a noise from the trunk area but the car remains locked/unlocked the broken line is the cause.
Intermittent operation may be poor contacts on the pump or receiver problems.

When locking and unlocking using the key do all the locks work? If they do the pump is OK.

Give all the info you can when describing faults, problems are more easily solved when all what happens or does not happen is included in the post.

Thanks for the reply onehund...80

I have no problem locking and unlocking both doors and trunk with the key. The alarm red button activates when locked.

There are no noises coming from the trunk area.

Batteries in the one where you replaced them upside down or one reversed?

There are actual noises from the trunk area if all the locks operate as you turn the key in the drivers door. The noise would be the pump working. The light you refer to is on the console I presume.
You only have one fob I guess.
Did it suddenly stop working or did the distance at which it worked slowly decrease? All these things are relevant.

Yes! there is a quick 'click' sound like in the trunk when locking/unlocking.

I made sure that batteries are propertly installed.

It didn't progressively reduce the distance to remotely activate/deactivate. The damn remote just died.

I know this has been years since this post has been on but I just repaired my remote by re soldering the post this takes up for the the positive of the connection on the battery. I also cleaned some white corrosion off the back side where 2 little posts stick up, this is also the side I soldered.
