Headlights destroyed
This has probably been beat to death but are there any options out there besides buying the factory lights and having the same problem again ? This problem seems so common it should be reported as a safety issue . I had slight hazing on my '04 but polishing took care of most of that but I'm disgusted with my '08 . This car only has 22k and stays in the garage . This is the worst I have seen and it happened over a very short span (it showed no signs of hazing early last year) . I took it out for a few trips over the last few months and this is how both headlights look now .
Sand, Sand, polish, sand, sand, polish then XPEL UV clear covers and still look new today.
UV exposure causes micro-cracks in the very top layer of the lexan.
The sanding and polishing fixes that, the covers filter out any more UV so it does not reoccur.
This headlight clouding needs to be addressed. It's c;early a safety issue. The iidea that if they "light" they "work" is asinine. If the windshield wipers move across the windshield are they working? Inspections miss the "function" from the form, fit and function. Inspections will put a guage on my windows tint. The same should be
utilized on headlights.
Stations will make money refinishing headlights.Dirvers will get pissed. Eventually auto manufactures will get the message and go to glass or a better material. A;though this may need additional regulation.

Mine on my 05 are worse. Not only hazing but what looks like the beginning of the plastic actually drying out and turning brittle. Polishing didn't help so I guess I'm stuck with it.
The flaky/bubbly crud is the UV protection layer going bad. What did you sand it with? P500? P800?
I've gone so far as 400 wet-n-dry on a 2001 GMC Yukon. Don't despair! fix it!
When a passenger light got busted by a deer.. we upgraded headlights.. and that's when we really notice the difference on the wife's 07 Tahoe
$170 for the pair.. Smoke tinted - LED at lower edges and Halo Eyes..
Now why cant someone do this for the Crossfires!

Yeah 200 bucks for the DIY kit. I like the $179 replacement and modified plug and play option.. LOL
I guess I will take a shot at the wetsanding and polishing route on my next days off work . If that comes out decent the EXPEL clear protection film looks to be worth a shot . It is sad that this is such a common thing to happen with the Crossfire yet Chrysler does nothing . I would hate to spend $450 on replacement lights only to last a few years .
I also have an 07 with almost 89,000 miles......no hazing, etc.
Here's a pretty good DIY guide:
How to Polish Your Headlights Like a Pro - Popular Mechanics
The Meguiars kit starts at P500 then P800, P1500 and a final polish. Use your judgment on what to start with.
Remember to sand in straight lines-never circular. Don't ask how I know this. Just trust me?
I've, as I said, started with some pretty aggressive paper, but only on severe cases. Once you get a good bite into the surface, you'll see the edges of the damaged protective layer start to go away. That's what you want. Get rid of that and you're on your way to happiness.
At the end of your first grit, it should look like a perfectly uniform...milk jug. No variations in milkiness.

Chrysler has not addressed this because, face it, how many more Crossfires are they going to sell/not sell because of it. And how many of us would consider a regular Chrysler? Now Dodge, on the other hand....
