Default Rear Latch Mechanism

I have done the searches and haven't found the answer to my question. I purchased a 2005 Chrysler Coupe recently and noticed that the rear latch does not return after opening the hatch. I assume it is a spring return type mechanism but I am not sure. I am looking at how to replace the entire assembly or at least remove it so I can inspect. Has anyone had any dealings with the removal process and would be willing to share their knowledge. I could just tear into it but I would rather take it slowly and make sure I don't take off more than I need to. Any help would be appreciated.

Go to this site (click) and download the entire 2005 Service Manual. It is a big file so save it.
It will show you the entire process.

Perfect disassembly but still can't figure out how the return works. My problem is the latch opens the hatch but will not return to the start position after depressed. It just sticks. I tried lubing everything while I had the latch assembly out of the vehicle but that didn't work either. Does anyone have a picture of their assembly that I can compare mine with to see what is missing.

You mean the part you pull with your fingers stays toward the rear after it is pulled back?

Exactly. It sticks to the rear and doesn't return. I usually just use my finger to return it to the original location.
