Default Headlight Switch Mystery

I have noticed that when you pull out the headlight switch to turn on the fog lights, that the switch has yet another postion that will click when you pull it out further. Does anyone know what this is for? I do not see anything in the manual on this.

It turns on the rear fog lights in the countries that require it.

Don't think so, Considering I've owned 2 limited and neither one of them had em. Haven't even seen them before.

I went out and tried my light switch. I didn't even know there were two pull out positions. I've learned something new today too!

Some countries require rear fog lights. In those countries the switch turns on one tail light full bright. My old Volvo had them.

Compare the reverse light area, the left from the right one.

Rear fogs are actually intense red rear tail lights.....not clear fogs lights that one might think. My wifes Audi S4 has them.

I've thought about putting a 35 or 55 watt lamp in the socket back there - for times when I'm stopped along the roadside at night. I THINK the wire is in there, but I've never looked to see if the extra socket is there.

I'm sure it's not legal here, but "legal" does not mean "safe", and "illegal" does not mean "unsafe"...

I have changed my lights to leds, super brites, and they are bright enough to serve as fogs. It;s one of the better things I have done.
