"LINEAR" Radio Setting??
Okay, I give up, what in the hell is the linear setting on the stereo system? I know how to access it, but I have not a clue on what it does or how to set it.
Can someone explain it to me?
Can someone explain it to me?
Owner's manual says it effects the 'tone' :
Linear adjustment (LINEAR)
The tone values for the set signal source (e.g., radio/
FM) are set to “0” (mean value). Press and hold the
AUD button for more than 4 seconds until FM LINEAR
appears (which affects FM only). Press and hold
the AUD button for more than eight seconds until ALL
LINEAR appears (which affects both radio and CD).

I have no clue what that Linear adjustment (LINEAR) is for, or how to access it. When I Press AUD on my radio, there are four settings that are displayed where I can control the Bass, Treb, Bal and Flt.
What the heck is Flt anyway?
I Suppose I'm trying to adjust the Tone. However, I noticed on the display that the upper level is way over to the left and the lower level is centered in the middle (Right now it TONE FLAT?). How do I adjust this setting?

You don't have "Linear" but you do have "flat", I believe they are the same thing - only it is called by one term in the NAV head and by the other term in the Non-Nav head.
I would run out to the car and verify this, but I am 770 miles from home on a business trip.
It's one of those weird things about this car that I don't quite understand. There's nothing in the my owners manual that describes what or how to adjust this setting.
Does anyone out there know what I'm supposed to do with it?
Thanks pizzaguy!

I BELIEVE that selecting "Linear" or "Flat" will set all tone controls to neutral.
Try it. If it does not, then I don't understand the manual either.
(It is in the audio manual for the NAV head - the NAV units have a separate manual.
It is poorly written in a lot of places - or I am dense and stupid.)
