I'm looking for an official source to prove these cars come with factory tinted windows. So far I found a seriouswheels.com site that does detail features and talks about the tint, but I need an official source.


I looked all over the Chrysler site and did not find this information.


Any guidance will be appreciated.

Maybe you can claim you are within the percentage of tint by the state law, see Tint Laws

 

They didn't come tinted from the factory, sorry. Looks like a previous owner installed film before you purchased it. Sucks that you got a ticket for such a trivial thing.

Are your door windows tinted so dark that the cop couldn't see in?

 

CA law says you must allow 70% light in per the website I posted. How did the Officer test it? When you take it back to prove it's fixed how will they measure it?

As long as you are in the re-soldering the RCM you might as well make it so the horn works all the time.

 

I have the sticker from my roadster and no oem tint is mentioned. I did have tint applied to my SRT6: 30% sides and 15% on the rear glass. I've never been challenged, but if I see an officer I tend to roll down the windows. I also did the same tint to my two A4s and my A6. I have not had a problem so far, knock on wood.

 

The only thing you can do is plead not guilty and schedule your day in court. Have both door glass windows re-tinted with 30% tint (or lighter). Bring your car and your receipt to court. They may actually have the officer go out and check your car (but usually presenting your receipt to the judge is enough) and they will dismiss your ticket. A big hassle I know . . . I've been there / done that many times getting hassled because the front door glass windows on my fleet of Chrysler SRT8s (airport transportation business) was one shade darker than legal. I finally "gave in" and had all of the cars in my fleet re-tinted with the "legal" darkness of tint film.
