Additional cost to transfer warranty
Did you know that when you sell your Crossfire, the buyer, assuming he is the second owner, does not get the 7year/70,000 mile warranty? The 3-year/36,000 warranty is transferable, but the drive train warranty requires that the second owner must pay a $150 charge, and that is only available if the 3-year is still intact. A third buyer cannot get the drive train warranty at all.
If anyone wishes confirmation of these facts, send me a stamped, self-addressed envelope and I'll be happy to send you a copy of a Diamler-Chrysler advisory.

The entire warranty is documented on Chrysler's web site. However, one thing that it does not mention anywhere that I can find is that the 7/70 powertrain warranty expires if the vehicle is sold after 3 years or 36K. Please quote from your advisory the exclusion for powertrain coverage after the bumper to bumper warranty expires. Either I'm missing something or you didn't interpret it correctly. Thanks.
It's unfortunate, but the dealers don't always get it right. Yes, you have to pay to transfer
the 7/70 powertrain wtty. The f/i person at your dealership can do this online for you.
Also, it is supposed to be done within 30 days of purchase! My dealer didn't know this
detail. The manual says it should cost $150.00, but then I got a $25.00 refund! Go figure.
The manufactures are certainly looking for ways to cut expenses. One more reason to document any non-dealer maintenance you have done!

I regret that I don't know how to post the advisory I received from Chrysler on this website.
I will be happy, however, to send said letter via snail mail if you want to send me a stamped
self addressed envelope.

Here's the warranty book that comes with the car.

The transfer section is on page 9. It doesn't say anything about the warranty having to be transferred during the 3/36 portion of the warranty.

If I hadn't, I would have been screwed, as the "girl in the office" failed to complete the transfer herself.
I would certainly take the time and call them up.

By the way, they (Chrysler) sent me a letter confirming the transfer after it was completed.

When you call, have your VIN, name of new owner, and who you bought it from on hand.
When you talk to a human, just ask for your warranty staus, both 3-36 and 7-70. If there are any problems, they should be ablr to help. The guy I spoke with was really pretty nice and helpful.
They can tell you if you are the 1st, 2nd or subsequent owner and all that good stuff.
AND, when you are doing this, make sure they take down your name, address and other info as the new owner. (recall contact info etc.)

What happens to my Chrysler Service Contract if I sell my vehicle?
If you decide to sell your vehicle, you can do one of two things: (a) transfer the existing Service Contract to the vehicle purchaser; or (b) cancel your Chrysler Service Contract. Chrysler Service Contracts for any vehicle may be transferred only one time.
Transferring Your Chrysler Service Contract
One of the many benefits of selecting a Chrysler Service Contract is that you can transfer plan coverage to a new owner if you decide to sell your vehicle - which could add substantially to the value of your vehicle.
If you sell your vehicle, you can transfer your Chrysler Service Contract coverage to the new owner, as long as the plan has not been cancelled. Your plan coverage may be transferred only once, to the first subsequent purchaser of the vehicle. The plan needs to be transferred at the time of the vehicle sale or within 60 days of the sale.
To make the whole process easier and faster we recommend that you take your Plan Provisions and the completed transfer form to your Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep® dealer and they will assist you with the transfer.
If you are unable to see your dealer to transfer, you may also complete and sign the transfer portion of your Plan Provision, or print a transfer form from the My Plan page on this website. Transfer requests need to be signed by the owner to whom the Plan Provisions were originally issued, and they need to be received by Chrysler Service Contracts within 60 days after vehicle sale. (A transfer fee of $50 exists in most states - please refer to your Plan Provisions for the applicable transfer fee in your state.)
You may send your completed transfer form with the transfer fee to:
Chrysler Service Contracts
Transfer Department
P.O. Box 2700
Troy, Michigan 48007-2700
If you have elected to finance your Chrysler Service Contract, the contract needs to be paid in full before you can transfer your plan coverage.
A factory warranty transfer fee may also apply. To transfer the Powertrain Warranty, you must have an authorized Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep® dealer process a "Transfer of Coverage Application" for you. The cost for this service $150. You pay this fee directly to the dealer. You must apply for a coverage transfer within 30 days from the date you buy the vehicle.
