Default Marker Lights Randomly Flashing

OK, so what is up with my marker lights? They seem to randomly start flashing when the car is parked and sitting. Does anyone know what is going on and had this before?

My first thought is to check for water in the bottom of the trunk area.

I'll have to check that. Last year when I found water in there, I pulled the small drain plugs so that if it did leak again it would drain out. I guess I'll have to go investigate.

I haven't pulled the trunk bottom out yet to check for water, but I did get under and check the drain holes, where I pulled the plugs last year. The holes were dry and showed no sign of water or being clogged.
