Some Buying Advice Please
I believe I’m getting close to making a choice on purchasing my first Crossfire…..and would appreciate the collective wisdom of this board. I’m only interested in coupes.
Generally I’m finding cars between 20K and 100K miles that interest me. However, most of the cars in the 20K-30K miles are more than I want to spend. So more than likely I’ll end up with something between 50 and 85K miles.
1. Is it really a good value to spend more for a car between 20-35 miles? Will I get a head start on dealing with some mechanical issues that haven’t arisen yet? Or if I were to buy a clean car with 85K miles might some common problems have already been addressed by the original owner(s) at that point?
2. What common mechanical/electrical issues can I check out myself without taking the car to a mechanic? I’ve used mechanics to check out cars in the past, but with the Crossfire it’s not likely I’ll find a mechanic who really knows to look for.
3. Is there any year, option or model that I should really stay away from….a low point in the production of the Crossfire?
Thank you all for your help and encouragement up to this point.

Some are way over 200 K and still running strong. My Grandsons has over 245K and he drives it back and forth out of state for college.

Your first question Hawker, has as many answers are there cars. Every used car and it’s seller have a story to tell and you can find good deals at either end
Mechanically, i haven’t heard anyone talk about big $ unexpected repairs. It’s built like a tank.
Electrically, most are single issue except a “few” horror stories involving key, screem, and reprogramming quandaries.
my car has 52K. Replaced secondary air pump 75$, fan blower transistor $40, mechanic bled out & replace brake fluid that failed moisture test 150$. That’s it !
a fellow somewhere outside Atlanta “stole” a car from a used car dealer last Spring for maybe 2K. Put little money in it and he has a GEM. He is here somewhere as a member.
Find someone knowledgeable when you locate one that looks good. What’s your budget?
