Hello,
I have a 04 fire with 28k miles. Ive had it for a few months and I am having some issues. So far I have had to replace the window mirror switch, key ignition and transmission sensor o-ring.

Right now I am having starting issues. The car wont start for the most part. When I go to crank it all the dash lights come on nothing happens. I do not hear the fan. Everything is quiet. However I have tried a few times and sometimes I can get it started. Also the spoiler is up and flashes red light when all lights come on.

It has a check engine light on. P0600A - Serial Communication Link.

If I start it I can drive it....unless all the dash lights come on. Then it will NOT shift out of park. If for some reason I start it and put it in drive and the dash lights come on I can only drive it in 1st Gear.

Is this the RCM?

It was diagnosed at a Chrysler dealer which said it needs a relay and possibly shifter linkage but they dont have the parts. They put on paper 5099007-AA Relay Non 08052328 Sop Bo Pos Local $85 More...is this a fuel relay??

 

I would say the rcm. Mine would have trouble starting then when it did start would shift out o 1st. Put new rcm in back to normal.

 

ok are they all the same for the years? or should I pull it and search part number? Can you link me where to buy it?

 

What did you replace and why in the keyed ignition? Also don't use Chrysler dealers it is a 2004 Mercedes SLK 320. Use an independent shop that works on Mercedes.

Key was stuck in the cylinder. OK true I will remember that.

 

Amazon... As others have done, probably best to order this to get you going and then send your existing one to the member here who refurbishes them. Up to you what you decide to run with then be it the refurbished one or the Stand Motor Products one but it's smart to keep a working spare in the car.

 

Lawdy RCM's have went up since I last bought a new one. They were $99 bucks a few years ago.
