Default When I press key fob to lock doors my flashers come on

Just recently, I moved my 2004 coupe out of my garage and parked it on street so my sister in law could park in garage while visiting. Locked the car with my fob and ten minutes later my neighbors called saying my flashers are going on my Crossfire. Unlocking the doors with the fob got the flashers to stop, but ever since, I get the same reaction when locking my doors with my key fob - the flashers come on. What’s up with that? Open to any ideas to remedy this issue. Love the car. It’s a real blast to drive, but sure would like to lock the doors with my fob when I park it somewhere. Thanks in advance.

Remove the alarm siren under the cowl in front of the windshield. It has internal batteries the shot out over time. You can replace it of just leave it unplugged. Use the search button it the top of the page for more info.

Look for water in the lower bay under the hatch carpet. Your probably getting water in the pump module on the lower right side of the cavity there. After removing the pump check both the connectors and the circuit board inside that module for corrosion and oxidation. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. All prepared to tackle both responses, but while I was at the store, I bought replacement batteries for both key fobs. Put new batteries in and presto - it worked - no more flashers coming on when I locked the doors with the fob. I’ll see how long this lasts before I call it cured. I do think I’ll do the alarm replacement as I’m sure it’s all original stuff. Thanks again and I know it’s been said before, but it’s true, best site going for crossfire information.

It'll probably come back (I know bummer). The batteries in the FOB control the door locks/unlocks & alarm. When the buttons on the FOB are pressed, the lights also 'flash' letting you know the signal reached the car receiver. The module in the trunk triggers the lights when you lock/unlock or alarm. UNLESS your 'Butt Dialing' your FOB, too low of a set of batteries in the FOB shouldn't trigger the lights. Remember, when locked/unlocked or alarm is pressed, your lights will flash. Let us know, OK?

I’ll take your advice and dive into the rear hatch to see if there is any water or corrosion on the module. Quickly approaching 55k miles so I should probably check it anyway and address it now rather than wait. I guess this is why we have winter so we can catch up on all our projects.

Big thanks to Zeracer for his advice on the alarm. Finally had time today to address step one, the alarm siren. Surprisingly, I had three bad words left over by the time the job was finished. I went the puller route for the wiper arms and it sure made things easier. The actual alarm siren was a complete disaster. Still had original batteries but the entire circuit board was burnt black - both sides. I haven’t used the alarm since I purchased the car back in May. (also didn’t check that out before the purchase - shame on me). Taped up the plug-in so it wouldn’t be harmed until I can get the new alarm siren purchased. While I was in there I cleaned all the drain holes. They were clogged with leaves and debris. Running wide open now. Pieced it all back together and took great delight in throwing the burnt up siren in the trash. Parked the car in the garage and locked it with my key fob and no flashers!

Step two is coming soon thanks to GraphiteGhost. I’ll open up the trunk and begin tear down on side panels, rear panel and styrofoam etc… to get to the module on the right side of the car. Got my fingers crossed that it will be nice and dry back there. Only one way to find out.

Thanks again for all the advice. Nice to know you can count on folks to help when it’s needed the most.

Don't forget to remove the "drain plugs" so if water leaks there in the future you won't have any issues.
