Production Numbers
That seems like such a high number. I was expecting around 35-40K.
Although, just yesterday I saw two other crossfires. Both black, one base and one limited. Keep in mind that I live on a college campus and both drivers didn't look old enough to be profs. Whenever I travel home to Indy I rarely see another xfire. Maybe they just aren't as popular in Indiana as other states.

My dealer has #59099 sitting on the lot right now, so at least that many have been produced. That is worldwide production, although I'm sure the vast majority of those ended up in the US.

approximately 80% of crossfires are intended for the u.s. market. to date, chrysler has sold approximately (plus or minus 1K) 30,000 units in the u.s. since June 2003. that suggests there are 15-20K crossfires sitting on lots in the u.s. that equates to about a year's worth of inventory.
25K+ 04's were produced, then sadly around 35K 05's were built. how many 06's and 07's will there be? i hope the parts bin is empty soon.
I heard no more in 06' but that may be the dealers wish... The manager told me they don't want anymore Crossfires and still have 8 /04's and that there is 4-5,000 units still sitting at the PORT.
If they drop the Crossfire in '06, I wonder what they will do with the cars still at the ports? Unless DC effectively gives them away there won't be much of a market. If they drop the price too low, then DC will alienate the existing owners who likely paid closer to the invoice price. What a marketing mess to be in.
Of all cars, it sure seems strange to have this problem with Crossfires.

I asked my dealer in Cincinnati, he told be that there was about 8,000 04's built and 18,000 05's built. He also said that the line was designed to build 20,000 max per year. I have also read this in other sites. This was to keep the car from being a fad and also to keep the price up.

Here's concrete data I've pieced together from various reports:
Crossfire (all variations and model years) U.S. sales
2003 - 4,021
2004 - 14,979
2005 (through Aug) - 10,276
Total - 29,276
2004 worldwide (including U.S.) Crossfire sales - 22,680
One question that has been asked before is what percentage of Crossfires are destined for the U.S. I was under the impression that it was around 80%. But doing the math for 2004, 66% of all Crossfire sales were in the U.S. So if around 30K have been sold in the U.S. to date, and a little more than 60K have been produced, there should be at least 10K Crossfires in the U.S. awaiting a new home.
Here's a couple links to typical reports:

Seems to me, from personal experience...the dealers do not like servicing the crossfires. Takes a long time in the shop. Over 4 weeks for a replacement stereo and the coupling and lower steering column shaft to be replaced.
I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering if anyone knew the breakdown of coupe verse roadsters verse srt-6's. You'll hear about different classics that had so many produced with auto's or so many with a stick and the number of each with each color and so on. These numbers are out there on the internet someplace, how do we find them?
They are getting more popular in uk now the price is right for second hand ones, ie '04.
The problem is the new price is to high every one is buying a year old one, because of the
first year loss. They best not stop them, they need to advertise, hopefully the new tv commercial
in uk will help.
wink

I find it really hard to believe that chrysler would spend all cash for research and development when they are only planning to produce this car in such low numbers. Are they planning to leave a financial crater?
There really wasn't all that much R&D $$$ spent on the Crossfire. Take a MB SLK 320, pop on a different body, put on bigger wheels/tires, redo the suspension a little, make some other minor changes and voila... a Crossfire built in Germany by Karmman for Chrysler. But you knew all that, right?
