Default Condemning Center A/C Vents

I was thinking of installing my new VDO Dayton MS 5500 Navigation unit in the center A/C vent area (since there's no other slot available for it). Is it possible?

I really don't care if I can't get air from the center vent as long as it is possible to remove the vent and replace it with the nav unit. My monitor will be from Audiovox LCMR6CT replacement rear view mirror with temp and compass.

I don't see why not. I'm sure there will be a good bit of fabrication required to a) seal off the duct, b) make a bracket to hold the stereo, and c) make the stereo/dashboard interface look good, but if you take your time it should turn out OK. Remember: Measure twice, cut once.

Thanks Andrew and it'll be good to have all those photos re-posted again in this forum, for the benefit of the new members.

I'll check with my installer if they can do it with less surgery in my XFIREX. I'll probably have them remove the AC vent panel only to accommodate the Nav receiver.

Andrew, that is a real first-class installation! Looks like it was done at the factory.
