Hi! Did you take delivery on the Crossfire this Tuesday? Inquiring minds want to know! Seriously, did you? I'd like to know if you are enjoying your new ride.

Called the dealership Tuesday, and told them I just couldn't get past this "no spare tire" thing, and what were my options. The sales manager was very gracious, told me he absolutely did not want to sell me a car I didn't want. He even said that at the price I negotiated ($20,500 including 3 oil & filter changes, and mounting a set of tires) he was just as happy not to sell it. I even offered to send the sales guy a check for $100 for his time on the paperwork, but he said that would not be appropriate, and not to worry about it.
The same dealership sells Fords. If I had decided on a Mustang, I would definitely buy it from them.
So- - to make a long story longer, I'm getting an '05 GTO. It's really where I started, what I originally wanted, and I'm picking it up on the 14th, in Harrisburg, PA. I think I was intoxicated by the looks of the XFire. Got a pretty good deal from a NY dealership that had what I wanted, and it was snowing on their cars every other day. Harrisburg was mid-way and they agreed to meet me there.
I sure appreciate all the kind words and encouragement from you and the others here. I'm sure you guys will enjoy your cars. I'll try to stay out of your way on the twisties- - -

If we had great roads, like probably further South or on the West Coast, the car would probably have been a great fit.
I wanted a car that the wife and I could take trips with, and whether my concerns were perceived or actual, they were real to me.
This is no slam on the Crossfire. They're beautiful to look at and beautiful to drive. Just not a good fit for me.
Someday there will be a tire that does not require air and thus no flats at all, oh wait there already is!! http://="http://reviews.cnet.com/Air...7-6214285.html Granted it will be a while before they are on performance autos but it definitely looks feasible.

After I bought my XFire, I drove it 700 miles to get the car home. About a week later, I took a trip of 800 miles. I really never thought about having tire problems. But then, I haven't had a flat tire in a very long time. Anyhow...good luck.
I had a '65 Goat at one time. That was a great car back in the day. Red w/ black interior, 4-speed with a tri-carb 389. A chick magnet...almost as much as a XFire. :-)
Noz34me, You wound up buying the car you wanted all along, I have no doubt that you are going to be very happy with it. Especially every time you plant your foot down, hard! Drop in from time to time and let us know how it's working out for you.
Woodlands, the '65 GTO was always my favorite. How long ago has it been since you owned it?

Noz, glad you got what you wanted all along. Puts your mind at ease, huh? I am also happy to hear the dealership was so gracious. Good for them.
Drive carefully.
Drive carefully.
Enjoy the GTO.
We are living in a time that doesn't come allong often. There are so many mice cars to pick from it is getting harder to figure out what we as enthusiasts want.
This is a good thing. I didn't live the late 60's and early 70's but this was the last time this happened.
Good luck to you.

Your post got me to thinking. Back in 1970 there were about 30 different cars being offered by the American auto industry for the "true enthusiast" to enjoy.
Now, even though American Motors, Olds, Plymouth, and Studebaker are no longer with us, for the 05/06 model year, there is still approximately the same number of high performance cars being offered by the American manufacturers for our driving pleasure.
When you consider what is being proposed for the future, along with what the Imports have to offer, then things just keep getting better and better.
