Coming from Mooresville, NC. A day trip for me, lol.

 

You are NOTgonna want to go home Friday evening. The carnival atmosphere will be just starting.

I'm telling ya, no matter how you drive, whether or not you drink, no matter what - you are gonna want to stay.

 

There will be a few us around fri, but most us come in fri late in the day . there will be a few running the dragon fri, but must of fun is Sat.

 

Jason if you are driving in for 1 day only make it Saturday if you can. As Ray said some will be there on Friday but Saturday is the big day. See you there.

 

Of course, Friday can be fun - less traffic on the Dragon. Sat and Sun are good days to run the Skyway or the Parkway(s).
NO drinking for me - I plan on being up and running with the GenCoupe guys early - before the Harleys and Tourists are out !

 

I'm leaving my XF's at home...bringin' the Harley and the tractor/trailer this year... Disrupting the Dragon.....lol

As most of you know, I help take care of my 99-year-old mother-in-law, so when will I know that I'm coming to the Dragon, Thursday, October 4. So if I can make it I'll see you there just in case I don't have a great time. Now that my car set up for drag racing I will really have to go slow on the turns, but I'll pass most of you in the straightaway, LOL jim

 

Put Roberta & me down for attending the Fall ToD GTG. She's scheduled to work that Saturday, but she's trying to switch weekends with someone.

Gary - Are you planning to do the Fontana Dam gathering & photo shoot to start our Saturday activities? Or do you plan for us to gather in our respective "groups" at Fontana Lodge & leave from there?

 

For those attendees wanting to participate in a "tourist" run, the attached two (2) routes that cover the NC & Northern GA mountains are very entertaining. The upside - lots of scenic venues (Hiwassee Dam, a couple of waterfalls, Moonshiner 28 from Highlands, NC back to Fontana Lodge). The routes have lots of sections that include sweepers, twisties, and other interesting features. The downside - ToD is not included in either route.

But these are both enjoyable driving and used by many car enthusiasts from nearby locales. I've adjusted the driving speeds to reflect "tourist"class style so you'll see the estimated time to complete. Add in several stops for site seeing & one for lunch, and it would be a full day.

And you can always drive a ToD run on Friday or Sunday. Another recommendation is to tackle ToD (up & back) on Saturday evening. It's a different experience after sunset!

Ok all ! if you have not made your Res, yet , you got untill the last of month to get the Crossfire rate on the rooms , don;t miss out on the fun !!!!

 

No plan for a photo shoot at the dam but we may do it on the Baseball field on the Fontana Lodge property.
(weather permitting etc)

Groups will probably leave directly from Fontana Village around 9:30 on various different routes we have driven in the past.

Trying to keep some flexibility in the schedule as we know it ends up being the way it works out anyway.

 

That reminds me, Gary - I'm leading my first group this year. I'm calling it "Pizza's Posers" - people who THINK they drive like Batman, but still get made fun of by both the Cruisers AND the Psychos.
