6th Annual Fall 2012 - Tail of the Dragon GTG - October 5, 6, 7
Well we poke fun at each other, and argue a bit, but once we are all together at the Fontana Hotel, you just want to relax and mingle with the group. They aren't as mean in person...lol... It really is a fun time and don't let the "driving" stories get to you either. They are kind of like "fishing" stories. There isn't any pressure at all for you to go out and drive crazy. It is more of a huge car show than anything else. The people are great, the stories are great, and last but not least the scenery is great...and I am talking about the mtns for all you ole' farts...oops, I am one of those....anyway...this is your time if you want to see a lot of cool cars, and great scenery. Plenty of shopping nearby as well...
New to the forum and Crossfire ownership. We are looking at attending the rally in OCT. Can someone fill us in on what goes on during the weekend in addition to driving the tail. Just curious on what to expect. Thanks.
Normally the following takes place:
- We yell at a Harley (or five)
- 80% of the folks in the lodge don't remember Saturday night
- Someone gets pulled over for speeding
- Someone needs new trousers from the exhilarating drive
- Someone mistakenly places themselves in the fast group
- Someone mistakenly gets stuck in the slow group
- Someone gets lost
- You learn more about how your car handles at the ragged edge
- You make memories and friendships that last a lifetime

So as to keep everyone in proper speed (or motivation)::ability group we offer the "TOURIST CLASS" group so participants can actually SEE the surrounding scenery and other cars rather than tunnel vision on the center line.. We make a Saturday only run with a lunch stop. Open to all ability levels. Led by a guy with a pacemaker as an internal brake system on excitement levels..

ALSO, Pacemaker's "Sunday Driver" class will be driving a new and wonderful road that I'm gonna show him. Just the right road for that group, as you MUST NOT go over about 25 mph thru most of it.
It looks like I'll be making my reservation this week.
Put my new diff to the test.
I'm a big trail runner so I'll be in the woods when I'm not behind the wheel!
See ya'll in 2 months...

Maybe we can earn our tickets on the WAY to the Dragon.
A few months ago I was running in the Smokies near Bryson City when a good size black bear sprinted across the trail about 100 feet ahead of me! It may have been chasing something... Luckily I don't think it ever saw me.
I'm not sure I can get Thursday off. Taking one day is a b**** here. We'll see...

I make a new thread so we can contain the conversation somewhere other than here:
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...tml#post688207
ANYONE leading a group from GA or SC or FL or AL can post in there.
I just posted that I leave Atlanta on Thursday before noon.
I think MetalMilitialSRT leaves the Atlanta area Friday morning.
Anyone who wants to run up together with one of us OR wants to discuss their own group from the region is welcome to post in that thread!
Anyway, let's move the "convoy" discussion over there to keep things cleaner here !
