I agree with what so many have said here. This one was special and so was the place.
An annual event/maybe. but, another CAA? yes definitely.

I hated to leave early and now that I review the activities of the last two days,, yes,, we need to visit Eureka Springs again.

Hat's off to Greg and Sherry. Well done.

We made it back to SC around 12:30 PM EDT. Drive today was only 4.5 - 5 hours from Birmingham. Great to have seen everyone. Possibly the best Crossfire event we've attended. Location was great; roadways were great; accomodations were great; attendance was great; fellowship was great! It doesn't get much better than that!

Thank you all for such positive feedback! Here and in person! This was one of those "Hero or Zero" moments in life.. LOL. Having the pleasure of previous events I really felt this was a place we needed to be.

AND a very big thanks to those behind the scene (you know who you are). Your contributions - advice and help were very much appreciated along with those who stepped up to lead the groups.

Even as we wondered out of town Sherri was pointing out all the things we didn't see and do.. This week was really just a small sample plate of what the area has to offer and we will gladly return with the Crossfire group for more! To be honest I'm more than ready to try to get our "motorcycle group" on board for just another weekend round there as soon as possible!

It's all of you that make these events fantastic - your attendance and continued enthusiasm for these cars. I never dreamed when I bought this cool little car how much of a bonus came with it in meeting and getting to know other owners.

You really hit a home run with this, Greg. Great food near the hotel, all sorts of activities, zip lines, ferry rides, great roads, a zoo, animal sanctuary, amazing parks, great history, interesting architecture, great hiking, goKarts, very interesting nature/natural attractions, the whole Branson, MO experience not far away, and all sorts of roads and activities we didn't even discover (yet?)

I WISH the rest of us had the chance to see John "Redcorn" (TwoFast)'s reaction to seeing 60 Crossfires in his town. Like I said, he was like a child raised by wolves meeting humans for the first time. The rest of you really missed out this time.

Spring 2016 Tail of the Dragon
and Fall 2016 Ozark adventure
I think this might be the beginning of change for the Crossfire community.

Now there is a paradigm I can get behind! ! ! (I mean, I'm 3 hours from the Dragon and about 14 hours from Eureka Springs - but I'd be there, PERIOD.

I wish the rest of you could have met this wonderful couple! (Talking about Mrs, not the car!)

Just want to add : A BIG thanks to Steve ( stevE55) for downloading maps for my Garmin !
Made it home safe and sound with NO detours this time.
BTW: If you have a Garmin and cross a state line and suddenly your little car icon gets fond of driving off the road and in lakes and such, you probably don't have the map loaded for that state/region.

Overall, even though I had to leave Wednesday morning due to work and school, it was freakin awesome to run with everyone there. Greg and Gary you guys run at a fairly brisk pace in the twisties and I loved it. The GF was holding on for dear life half the time hahahah.

Really wish I saw twofast's reaction lol

As a side note, with everyone talking about the great time they had there is a caveat regarding ES Quality Inn:

With all due respect to Terry & Diane, if the jewelry piece Terry handmade for Diane for their 40th wedding anniversary was stolen from their room at the Quality Inn, IMHO we should boycott Eureka Springs Quality Inn from any future Crossfire events and QI Eureka Springs & QI headquarters needs to know we are doing so.

TOTALLY AGREE.. and they don't have to know Gary has something scoped out already with a BIG parking lot that would allow us to set up a small road course event...

It really is saddening that this could happen by one of their cleaning staff. Other than that event they really were great in accommodating our group.

Reading this I recalled what my son told me the other day. He and his wife have just come back from Japan and one day there while sitting in a restaurant a lady at the next table got up and went to the washroom and left a bag and cell phone in plain sight on her table, she was on her own and nobody had been asked to look out for her stuff. I think nobody but an idiot would do that here, some steal anything that is not tied down.

Japan is like a WHOLE other country!

I had not heard of the theft (if it was a theft, hope not.) I left my computer and radar detector in my room, the RD in it's original box - no, it was not stolen, but I didn't intend to leave it there in fear that it would be.

I met two of the housekeepers on Wednesday - sure hate to think either of them would steal anything.

ANYWAY, I drove home in one day - said I would not do it, but I did. 14 hours, 41 minutes not counting an hour wasted searching two WalMarts for a new GPS for the car....

Really sorry to learn that a member of our group had something taken from their room. That is always a fear I have whenever letting housekeeping have access to the room. So many times I've seen housekeeping just flip the security lever to block the door and continue to strip beds & towels from several rooms before replacing sheets & towels in any of the rooms. Just about anyone could step in and take something left out inadvertently.

News of this really turns this past GTG into a sorrowful event.

Im hoping that it turns out the item was mishandled or lost and that it turns up in the next few days - like if a HKer accidently knocked it and it fell behind something....

Spring 2016 Tail of the Dragon

Also special thanks to our newest member John
(TWOFAST
) and his wife Peggy
These people are locals and have owned a 2005 Yellow Roadster from new and never knew the forum existed until he by chance came upon us at the host hotel after seeing Crossfires in numbers buzzing around town here in Eureka Springs
.

He immediately became one of the group and in fact took the lead on some fantastic runs we otherwise would have not known about
John is a very talented musician and has lived here in Eureka Springs for 15 years
He and Peggy
instantly became a part of our group for the week here together meeting us each day to participate in the activities

Well, the dragon is 2 1/2 hours from me and this event was 15 hours from me. The Dragon costs me two days off work, this event costs me a week off work.

But, given the experience, the food, the activities, the attractions, the shopping, the sightseeing ---- I'm on board!

A new paradigm for the Crossfire Community? I think maybe so!

Dear friends and supporters,
I was not going to bring this up and spoil the mood on the forum for what was such a great event. But now that the cat is out of the bag…
The necklace was not just laying around, it was actually “hidden” in a side compartment of my Crossfire suitcase. Whether it was taken by a staff member, and I truly hope not, or an opportunistic sneak thief who saw an open door. The fact is it is gone, and the only time I can not physically account for it’s presence was when we were both out of the room and did not put out the “Do Not Disturb” sign.

Not to bring on more sympathy for myself, but to just let this person know. This was not even made from my money per say. My father passed away last year and left me and my brother a small amount of cash from his estate. I thought how nice that for once in our marriage I could really do something nice for my Wife of 40 years.

It is sad that someone thinks that because we drive nice cars that we have money just to throw away or be taken. The fact is I’ve cleaned my share of toilets and gunked out my share of grease traps long before I found out my calling as a goldsmith. If we never recover the necklace, this is my karma, conversely , who ever took this is their karma. And I’m a big believer in Karma. Do Good in this world and be blessed three times, do Evil and you will be cursed threefold.

That’s my rant, and I thank all of you for your kind words of hope and understanding. I hope we can do this again at CAA 7 or as the folks are suggesting, a Fall Ozark “Dragon”.

Sincerely,
Terry C. (smfrycruzr)

Terry, what was done is just horrible. Since they took it out of the box and left the box in your luggage I'm sure they thought you'd be long down the road before you noticed it missing and also making it hard to trace where you were when it disappeared.

Today I received an quality survey email from QI headquarters regarding our stay. I will report this dissatisfaction in my response. I am also going to write the ES QI manager and let them know the same. Hopefully the manager will set up a program for someone to return the jewelry anonymously. I encourage others here to do the same.

BINGO!

When I tell people that I paid $8500 for a ten year old pickup truck - they show no emotion.
When I tell them that I paid barely more for my SE ROadster - shocked is the only way to describe their reaction. Fact is, people THINK we are driving $40,000 cars.

I am learning more and more about this crime - I say crime, because now I understand that it is not lost or misplaced, but that it was stolen.

I met two of the housekeepers, it is horrible to think that one of them may have done this - I sure hope not, but SOMEONE did.
