I have no clue how you got a room (they were turning people away two weeks ago - said we had to wait till the room holds came off around August 1st), but I will add you to the list.

 

I called after hours and the woman said she couldn’t get in the system and reservation desk was closed so I should reserve the room online and add that I would be with the crossfire group. Online showed a few rooms left. They have since updated the price to the group discount and confirmed the reservation. Maybe someone canceled 🤷🏻*♀️ Lucky me I guess.

Exactly - there has been a cancellation with one of the other groups.

While they will hold a room block, if a person in a room block reserves and then cancels, that room is not put back in the room block -they do this to avoid losing reservation numbers in the long run. And it has bitten us in the butt a few times, that's why we ask: If you are going to cancel, please let one of us organizers know FIRST, so that we can find someone who is waiting and manually move them to your room. Otherwise, the room will likely to go someone in another group and we loose !

But this time, the policy benefited us. Mostly, it benefited YOU. YOU are car 66! (And first timer number 17 - this is shaping up to be an EPIC event, first time attendees really make the event.)

I just do not know how we are getting rooms - unless they told us the place is sold out to GET people to call, but I don't think that is the case.
I think people in other groups are cancelling (you know, it happens, family stuff comes up, etc.)

When I used the online tool to book I was able to see that this was the only room configuration (2 queen beds) available with one unit left. They confirmed this was the case when I called.
Truth be told, I have been checking back periodically to see if a room would open up since earlier this month. When one did, I jumped on it.

 

Ok, see, now that makes sense.

 

Cathy and Marian from Hiawassee, GA will arrive Thursday pm and leave Sunday pm. We are new owners of a 2004, 6 speed Silver Blue Coupe. We are calling her Streak. We have been enjoying reading about others experiences with the Crossfire and look forward to meeting other owners. So far we have avoided meeting new police officers on the road.

Yes, Cathy and I have a room reserved at the Lodge. We actually did that the day before to be sure. We are not in the main building apparently but a few steps away - whatever that means. After hearing about it being hard to get a room I took the first one offered.

We are working on it Pat , and yes we miss all our old friends , Susan and I have had few rough years , with way to many friends we had to say good by too plus losing my brother last Oct, same weekend the fall meet was last year , sometime life just gets in the way , hope all works out and we can make it this year ,
