I looked at the route on google maps yesterday. It is really first class! In Germany there are also some very nice serpentine tracks but so many curves in such a short distance that's awesome! I would also like to drive this one but it's very far away from Germany.
I wish everyone a lot of fun!

Consider flying to Knoxville, Tennessee next year
It only about a 75 minute drive from the airport to the place we all stay.
We had visitors fly from the UK last year
Hop in one of our Crossfires and enjoy the ride
Ya might even have the opportunity to drive one of our Crossfires while we ride
Look at this link for flight info to Knoxville
Love to meet ya and share the fun we all have
Re: 14th Annual Fall Tail of the Dragon - October 1,2,3,4 2020
Ok, for such a short trip it will be a little expensive and I have looked there are no direct flights and so the flight is about 23 hours for one way.
I planed in future a road trip (three weeks) across the US. Maybe I can than drive this road then.

Currently driving up from Georgia and should be there just after 9:00 a.m.. Wanted to join the common group for today. Should I just shoot straight for the dam?

INternet service at the Lodge is almost non-existent. I just now saw your post.
I hope you met up with us, my run left the lodge at 900am, others a bit later. We did not go to the dam, it was blocked off.
No reason given, but I think they are renovating the visitor center.

If the new caretaker of the facility wants to improve the overall ambiance of the lodge, they need to consider installing repeaters (wifi hubs) throughout the lodge to improve access to the internet for lodge guests. Wouldn't be a significant cost and would go a long way to improving overall relations with guests.

While there were many Crossfires in attendance that displayed the ingenuity of respective owners' mods, both performance-related & appearance-related, there was one Blaze/Inferno Red Coupe that particularly grabbed my attention. I don't know the young lady that owned the car but she is to be applauded for the overall appearance of her car. In particular the shine on the car was "mirror-like"; possibly the best I've seen on a Crossfire. And that's something for me to say since I consider the shine on my Machine Gray Coupe an equal. I was parked directly behind her car in the group photo. There was no doubt that the Red exterior really amplified the shine on her car. WELL DONE!!!

Sonya is a SWEETHEART, too! She lives in Chattanooga, so we will see here next time. She's had the car a LONG time, and posted today on Facebook that she had a tremendously good time this weekend.
Re: 14th Annual Fall Tail of the Dragon - October 1,2,3,4 2020
We had approximately 55 Crossfires in attendance and the weather was pure sunshine and a cool
We had many attending for the first time and seemed to enjoy the experience
The Fontana Lodge has made improvements with new management
All new menu at the Wildwood Grill with more staff made the dining experience enjoyable
Some new runs explored new places
The Fall Dragon next year will be held over the weekend of 9/30 thru 10/3 - 2021
Watch for a new thread coming soon

I still count over 60.
51 Crossfires in photo,
5 or 6 at the lodge (either didn't know where to go, or slept in due to drinking!)
5 non-Crossfires driven by Crossfire people - my count is 61 or 62.
The remodeling at the Grill, along with the hiring of the Chef from Tapoco Lodge, made the food way better.
I wanted to say, that TWO of the waiters told me personally that, even with how we overwhelm them, they do try hard - and also both told me that we tip well.
One young man said, "You took good care of me this weekend.." Another girl said, in their staff meeting Wednesday, "Oh, NO! The Crossfires are coming." Another one responded, "Yea, but at least THEY tip WELL."
Many of us left $20 room tips... thinking of the housekeeping staff! I had a great time, and feedback I got, this time, was all positive.
I think we ALL were just happy to GET OUT and enjoy ourselves.

Special thanks to the event committee and other participates in putting together this event. While we didn't partake in any of the runs, Roberta & I had an enjoyable time taking our own routes during the weekend to see several sites and spent some time in Bryson City, which we are very fond of. And it was rewarding to see that the new Fontana Lodge caretaker had made several improvements, with additional upgrades hopefully in the future. Fontana Lodge continues to be a great location for our group.
Later, Dennis E.
