chrome wheels

you have to strip your factory wheels of paint first, get them bead blasted, then take them over to a good chrome shop. You could also try Nickel or black industrial chrome. chrome is probably cheaper.

Check with CrossfireFrank. He had his chromed by a reputable place in California. I think you would ship them, or they have an exchange program. He seems to be very happy with their work.

Google "Chrome Wheel Exchange"
Plenty of places will send you OEM chromed exchanges and refund you your deposit once they receive your old rims. This allows you time to swap your tires and pressure sensors.
I don't think is a good deal because they charge $600 to $800 dollars and you lose your rims; valued at $600 - $850 if you sold them on eBay.
That’s a total cost of $1,200 - to $1,650.00 for chrome duplicates. If you have your rims chromed for about $125 a wheel, you have to put your xfire on jack stands for a week or two, plus you have the plastic wheel centers to deal with if the chrome shop does not chrome plastic; chromed centers are available on EBay.
Better (IMO) to buy nice set of chrome wheels that will fit your OEM tires, and then sell your rims on eBay.
Nice set of Gianelle V-5 at www.streetdreams.org for $1,020.00 (free shipping) if that’s your look. Offset that cost by what you will get for selling your OEM Rims. I think the best deal going.
Enter you year make and model, then sort results by chrome and price.

I wanted to stay with the OEM wheel, I really like the look of it. I also chromed my grill, side fins, and roll bars. I think it makes the car look much better than the stock silver. I had my door handles painted the exterior color of the car. As far as staying away from California chromers I"m very happy with them they are triple chromed and came with a 4 year replacement warranty. They still look like the day I put them on. Oh buy the way if you do want to "stay away from California chromers" he also has a location in Texas. p.m. me if would like his phone number.
i was just discussing this with my wife. what kind of prices are you guys finding to get the chrome done? and are you finding places that'll do all the work(strip, bead blast, ect)?
I am semi-interested in this too. I purchased a spare set of OEM wheels with TPMs and they are sitting in my garage. I originally bought them to put on all-season or winter tires as my Xfire has the summer Pilots. Now I am thinking of a chroming a set. Please post the scoop when you figure it out.
Thanks to all that have responded - FP, Brianbrave, Crossfirefrank - and others.
I'm still awaiting an e-mail Calif-Chrome, their website is very impressive. There are several chrome shops here in the Nashville Tn. area one of which orange county choppers uses. I have been told that the company is 2-4 months behind schedule - no exchange policy - jack stands - not. I will post what I find to share with everyone. Good work ain't cheap-and cheap work ain't good. I just happened on this crossfireforum what a great find. Whoever is the brainchild kudos'--- !!!

$650 + $128.68 (shipping) + $600. (forfeit value of your rims) = $1,378.68
That's $344.67 each for chrome OEM's. Plus you still have to pay a tire shop to remove, mount and balance your tires ($125). But you have to do this no matter what unless you buy custom rims from a local dealer who includes this service with the sale.
Or you can look at it that you are paying someone around $900 (including the mount and balance costs) to chrome your rims without having to wait a week with your Xfire on stands.
I would shop for some nice custom rims at that price. They let you keep your OEMS that you can sell to offset the price of the new rims.
A local chrome shop quoted me $125 for each rim to strip the powder coat, bead blast and prep, then triple chrome plate. If I shop around in the LA area I could drop the cost by 35%.
I decided that I like the factory silver look W/ the sapphire paint.

either way ... no interest in chrome for my crossfire ... so no harm or foul to me on the way one prefers to calculate.
