Reasons why glass separates from top
Hey GatorLCA, have you tried sending some pictures to Karman and ask their opinion? Thay are usually fairly responsive and may be willing to give us an idea on how to keep this from happening and a repair process if it does.

Chances are if you send them a little note about your problem they will respond in a couple days with a phone call. Several months ago I sent a note asking about our wipers and then received a call from one of their represenatives to answer the question personally. Now thats customer service.
My 2005 top seperated about a year ago. I had purchased an extended warranty for the car and it was fixed for FREE (Potamkin Chrysler in Miami, FL). The new top is $1,700, plus installation. There doesn't seem to be a way to reattach the old glass to the fabric.
The funny part is when I took it in to the dealership, I pulled in right behind another Xfire with, guess what...the window falling out! The service guy comes out and says "Can I help you?" and I said "Yes, I'll have what he's having!" I asked him how many has he seen and he said about I was the 5th in the last three months. I'd say that is a factory defect!
I had seen other posts from people in Florida who had this same problem so your comment about warm weather having a negative impact might be right on.

I bought one of the quick top covers that was mentioned before for my roadster. The company is California Pop Tops LLC. I ordered mine by phone at 866-461-2141 cost about $60 shipping included. Easy to order and shipped same day. Haven't used it in the summer yet but they claim to eliminate solar heat build up inside the car. Check them out at californiapoptops.com. once you get the process down installation is quick and it stores in it's own pouch to about the size of a football.

Warm weather or not, it shouldn't be doing this.

Living in south FL and believing that our very hot summers contribute to the separation of glass and top, I found a great upholsterer and had him sew a plastic window in. The way I look at it I never used the rear defogger so will not miss it and for the price I can have 3 more windows sewn in before I spend more than the $1700 for a replacement top. Not only is it functional it looks fine and should last at least a few years..... maybe more.

Will be glad to post some pics. They will be up next weekend at the latest. I have had this plastic in place for quite a few months now at it looks perfect. I'm really sorry I tried all kinds of adhesives before I thought of the plastic as I have some marks on my top from my attempts. I'm still trying to clean that up.
I just put some JB Weld 2 part epoxy on bottom part of the window tonight (the rattle at high speed was driving me nuts even with the duct tape propping the window up). I"m letting cure overnight so we'll see how it holds up. Hard to say for sure since most of the stress seems to come while the top is in motion of going down and while it sits when the top is down

Thank you for posting!
You are right. It looks pretty good and provides an option to those that have the glass separation problem. Too bad about getting the adhesive along the edges....

Yes that adhesive was a mistake as the glass is too heavy and there is too much movement in the actions of raising and lowering the top. I hope others learn from my mistake on this one. I'm going to try some boat canvas shops in Lauderdale to see if they have a remedy. If I find one I'll pass it along....

I see15 year old f bodies that have not had this problem..Chrysler should address it since they now have our tax money
I took my SRT6 Roadster to Dallas Dodge for several issues (warranty runs out June) and the window separating from the top on the driver side was one of the problems. The service writer was not surprised at all to see the problem and acknowledged that it is common. I just got it back yesterday.
For the top, they sent it out to a Trim Shop that specializes in convertibles. They resealed the window with a heat curing, silicone base sealant. I was able to figure out who the shop was from my receipt and gave them a call, since others have had less than great results from this type of repair.
The fellow I spoke with told me that hey have repaired at least a dozen Crossfire Roadsters with this problem in the last 3 years and have only had to take a second pass at one as far as he could recall. Maybe the problem is repairable if done in this way. I will be watching the window/seal area like a hawk for any further separation.
