The reason I didn't use them is because I wasn't sure where to put them...neither screw section looks like it NEEDS a washer.

You have the two screw in *****, and then the two screws that hold the umbrella hooks. Neither were in need of a washer, and both screw-in sections hold extremely well.

I don't recall mine coming with washers. If it did, I didn't use them either. The screw ***** do the job just fine without them.

are the washers black or silver? if they are black they go on the **** to protect the paint on the bracket from wearing off when tighting it [the ****] down, i think.

Nope, the washers that came with mine were silver.

Also, I promised an 80mph review! Took the toll road home last night, and YES the back of my hair was waving around a bit (moreso the top pieces), but nothing was whipping me in the face....as far as I could tell in my rearview mirror, my hair stayed in place for the most part.

I am partial to my lighted windscreen, though this new one is very sharp looking. There's just something so cool about the blue light and the Crossfilre logo illuminating the night's sky on a warm summer night. The quality of the product is great, too.

Boy was I surprised this evening when I opened up my mail, only to find an invoice from IBC Customs Brokerage, Inc. in Inglewood, CA. It's for $20.50, and states I owe for the the duty and entry fee of my mesh windscreen. $11.50 for "duty consolidated" and $9.00 for "informal entry fee."

I'm not sure if people in different states will receive an invoice from a different (closer) broker, but will those of you who purchased a windscreen internationally please let me know if you also receive a similar invoice?

I wasn't expecting this additional charge...I know it's only $20, but it makes me happy that Adamesh gave me a $40.00 credit. Still sucks though.

Again, please let me know if you guys receive an invoice. I'll be calling this brokerage place tomorrow to make sure they're legit...don't want to be sending my money and personal info to just anyone.

Thanks guys/girls!

I would contact Geoff and see what he says. If there was a duty on the package I dont' think it wouldn't have been delivered. I would check with the Better Business Bureau as well... keep us posted...

I got the windscreen from the UK, and Geoff from Adamesh confirmed that the invoice is correct. This is what he emailed me when I questioned the invoice:

Hi.
The amount they are asking for will be the local tax. The UK tax or VAT is deducted from the price at purchase and then they usually try and claim the tax when it comes in to your country. The other amount will be the handling charge that they claim.
We put low values on the parcel to prevent the full amount of tax having to be paid however sometimes they do try and charge for it. I have also purchased items from China and they tend to put $5 value on items to prevent any taxes to be paid.
It is trying to find a balance as if we put $5 value on the box and it goes missing we could only claim $5 in compensation against an exspensive item.

If the company has the details of the parcel then it should be okay to pay, they should have attached details of it giving the value and address of the parcel. It might be worth a quick call to put your mind at rest. Thanks.

Regards

You guys had mentioned that these were about $260.00 or so delivered, but when I try to buy one online it comes out at the following amount....

Sub Total:$256.73Delivery:$82.01Total:$338.73
Am I missing something? Is there a way to have the shipping waived?

I have emailed Geoff to ask him what the best price is that he can offer to a member of the forum. I will let you know what I hear back.

Thanks.

They might have changed their price a bit...make sure you're in the US currency mode, which takes out the VAT charge. Again, they might've raised the price, but Geoff could give you more insight on that. I was the first one to purchase one from Adamesh, and my cost was $229.80 + $73 in shipping to California. ($303ish). Geoff then refunded me $40.00, which he offered to the first 10 customers. Last week I received a $20 customs/duties invoice that I need to pay as well.

All in all, still a great investment....You can mention my name (Richelle) and drop the price I paid and see if he'll match it. Good luck!

OC XFIRE, will you be going to the "Cruise for a Cure" car show, in September, at the Orange County Fairgrounds?

I heard they were doing a show at the OC fairgrounds, but I just haven't had the chance to make it down there.

When is the one in September? Is it supposed to have a large turnout?

I'm surprised you have never gone. It has about 3000 plus Classics, Customs and everything in between. You can park, cruise or just come without a vehicle . They have all kind of booths and drawings etc. It is called "Cruise for a Cure" and is an annual event. Just go online and type in cruise for a cure. It is a blast.

I've had both, first the Mopar and now the mesh. While pricey, the mesh windscreen works so much better than the plexiglass version from mopar. I'll sell the Mopar if anyone is still interested.
